I purchased a 2001 Ford Ranger, in 2002. Also in September, 2002 I was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis.
In fall of 2003, I was hospitalized from the MS for about 2 weeks. Three days later, after being released from the hospital, I called to let them know what had happened. I was at this point about 1 month behind on payments.
When I called them, I offered to make a payment arrangement until I was released to go back to work. They insisted on either a full payment, payoff, or the pickup. Well, guess what, they repossessed the pickup.
Now guess what they are doing, they are taking me to court for the payoff. After being discraminated against, they still want me to pay?

So you signed a contract and could not continue with the payments under that contact, correct? You tried to offer alternate arrangments that were not acceptable and they refused. So they took possession of the vehicle which was the collateral for the loan. How ere you discriminated against? Welcome to the world. You became disabled as thousands of others have. But they only asked you to do what everyone else in the world has to do which is honor your obligation. You couldn't and they took the vehicle and now want you to pay the deficiency balance. You had a contract. If you don't pay your water bill they turn that off too. No one thinks less of you I and my husband are disabled but that doesn't mean you can have a vehicle on any terms but the ones on your contract.
