I have a female dog that i needed to get spayed and she was pregnant. I called them up off of a list of participating vets with the ASPCA to use their certificate. They quoted me $55.00 dollars over the phone for which i would have to pay, never once said anything about extra fees that MAY be applied.

When i went to pick up my dog they slapped a bill for $605.80 in front of me and told me that if i didnt pay it then they would keep my dog there and charge me boarding fees for every day that she was there.

Never did they once try to work with me to pay a bill that was $550.80 over the quoted price. They were very unkind and unwilling to work with, a very unfair place to do business with.

Tails up for Falls Road Animal Hospital

AUTHOR: Grateful Paws - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Thursday, January 01, 2009

I just wanted to say how grateful I am that Falls Road is there. When my dog ate a bunch of raisins he was rushed by my father to the Falls Road for emergency care. And what care he received!! Top notch service and treatment. I was out of town at the time but the doctors and staff kept me well informed with his progress. And the night I got back into town they were more than happy and understanding of the situation and allowed me to stay with my friend for as long as I wanted. The amount of time I spent there with out once feeling like I was in the way made me appreciate them even more. And I got to see that it truly is great hospital fully staffed at all times ready and able to handle almost anything that comes through their door. Reggie loves them there and so do we. Thanks again for saving our health nut. Any time you need a vet, regular routine or Emergency care if you ask Reggie and me Falls Road is where to turn to. Grateful paws batimore, Maryland

#3 UPDATE EX-employee responds

All profit, no care

AUTHOR: Mnk - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Friday, June 13, 2008

This hospital, which also includes the kennel and daycare, where many dogs get sent to the hosptial from stress/fights/injuries from shotty kennel cages is ALL for profit. Just look at the kennel: over $30 for just one night, an extra $5 for "special feeding" (they feed your dog its own food from home) PER feeding (so $10/day), and an extra $5 for medication PER application (so if your animal needs medication 3 times a day, you're charged an extra $15/day). Also, the daycare? $25 to let a couple people watch your dog along with at least 20 other dogs? There were times when there were only 2 people down there and upwards of 60 dogs. How does that make sense? Dogs went home smelling like urine from laying in it all day, covered in dirt, and some became mean, toy aggressive, and others even became excessively skittish (isn't that the opposite reaction you would want from a "daycare"?).
I am a former employee who worked in the kennel/daycare for 2 years working minimum wage. That's right folks. Hammond charges you all this money and his employees are still left with nothing.
There is a reason I quit. My manager loved me and begged me to stay, mostly because I took whatever she threw at me with no argument (even after she cussed me out in front of other employees for merely repeating what she had done one day before).
I refused to be a hypocrite- I love animals, and I went home day after day crying because of the fact that so many good animals went in, and many did not made it out the same, at the owners gigantic expense.

Emergency Vet Hospital

AUTHOR: Emily - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Tuesday, February 08, 2005

I work at an emergency vet hospital in virginia. So my first question is did you get your dog spayed at an emergency clinic or a regular hospital? Emergency vet hospitals are much more expensive than regular practices...especially for surgical procedures. Also, not many emergency clinics will preform routine spays unless the animal is suffering from pyometra (an infection in the uterus). Secondly, No vet clinic i know of will quote a price over the phone, especially for surgery. They were probably quoting you the price for the office/emergency office visit. There aren't many places around that will spay a dog for 55 dollars. You should've went into the clinic signed an estimate before they even worked on your dog. Just a few things to help you out with next time you get work done on your pet.

Copy of the Bill?

AUTHOR: S.n. - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Thursday, December 30, 2004

Do you have a copy of the billing that they gave you with the charges? It would be interesting to see what they charged you for during the "spay". You might contact your state's Attorney General's office and find out where you should look to find out if there were other complaints against this clinic. You might also see if other vet clinics in your area will look at a copy of the bill and tell you if all of these charges are justified. If the dog was adopted from the ASPCA, you should contact them as well and tell them what happened. Be sure to forward a copy of the bill to them. If you find out this clinic deliberately overcharged you and then attempted to hold your dog hostage until the bill was paid, contact the District Attorney's office and see if you can file charges. If all else fails, take them to small claims court.
