I purchased 3, 4, and 5 copies of various Disney DVD's from this website and when I received them, they were poor quality, pirated fakes. Some of the movies that I ordered were not released yet and were considered pre-orders and not shipped. I emailed the company (as no phone number is listed on the website or on the invoice) that I was unsatisfied with the products and to cancel the pre-orders that had not shipped. I threatened to report him to the proper authorities if he refused.
The CEO of the company responded to me with the following. The emails were so poorly written and unbelievably difficult to understand that I cut and paste from the emails so that you, the reader, could see what I was dealing with. (notice the spelling and puncuation)
"Do as you please we don't sell fake nor copied dvds!!! nor do we re-produce or dvds in any witch way or form. as far as your pre-orders they stand!! if you had any questions you are offerd to email before purchaseing. we sell thousands of dvds to companies for years so don't tell me something you can't back up... we fall under our suppliers licence to sell our dvds you don't!! by the looks of your order purchasseing so many of the same titles proves your selling not for gifts oh please!!. Our dvds are sold for personal entertainment only!!
read our policy ive been in the dvd business for almost 10 years selling the same dvds you purchassed, go blow smoke up someone eleses butt, final note: no refunds all sales are final!! documented date and time 10/17/07 12:22 pm kind regards steven ceo and owner family dvd wholesale"
So, I emailed him back and told him I intended to file with the BBB and FTC and I told him it wasn't necessary for him to use so many exclamation points. He responded with this:
"IT'S SO YOU GET THE POINT!!!!. GO BLOW SMOKE UP SOMEONEELESES BUTT BUDDY GIRL BOY HE/SHE 16 LIONKINGS???? OK BBB???? OK GET A JOB AND STAY OFF EBAY... DON'T RIGHT THIS EMAIL AGAIN OUR BUSINESSS IS NOW OVER CHUMP!!!"
I emailed him one final time to give him a chance. I pointed out that if he just refunded me for the movies that were not yet shipped, it would only be about $60 of a $500 order and that if he refused and I filed a complaint with my credit card company, he would not get any of that money. This was his final response to me:
"VOID I WIN EVERYTIME ANY AND ALL CHARGEBACKS 'all sales are final!!! now your blocked from furthur contact take it up with your bank a rebuttle will indeed be in place. ordering after the fact pre-orders i might add after receiving our product doesnot look like you were so unhappy with our product HUMMM i think i'm smarter then what you think he/she mam sir: your blocked from futhur emails. your pre-orders will be shipped out to you as promissed. regards steven ceo 10/17/007 time 10:29 pm"
All of this from a company who's website states, "famildvdwholesale.com customer service goal is simple: We are committed to providing our customers total satisfaction. Every time. Guaranteed." And from the CEO, none the less.
I filed complaints with the BBB, FTC, and MPAA. I reported him to Disney Corp also. The guy had the nerve to lie in his response to the BBB that I had purchased 14 and 16 copies of all movies and had purchased several orders from them previously. I responded to the BBB and sent them copies of my invoice, all email communications, and of the original order confirmation email.
Besides the obvious poor customer service, the fact remains, that his website states that the DVD's are originals and they are not. They are poor reproductions at best, and most likely they are illegaly pirated copies.
Beware if you are considering making a purchase from this company. This guy is probably just some idiot selling pirated movies out of his garage or something. I hope the fed's nail him to the wall.

I filed all the complaints that I said I would. I won my credit card chargeback dispute and was refunded the full amount.
About a year later, I recieved notification from the United States Federal Court that he was being charged with pirating and asked for any additional evidence or facts we could provide. I was more than happy to oblige.
I don't know what the outcome of that trial is yet, but I am satisfied knowing that this guy did not get away with his blatant disregard for the law.

Well at least you got some kind of a response! I have emailed them several times and NEVER gotten any kind of response. I even tried email them through the "Sister" Companies (they all link togeather to sell more pirated videos.)

The BBB processed a total of 7 complaints about this company since the firm's BBB file was opened in January of 2007. They have an unsatifactory report.
I filed this original rip off report and the rebuttal filed by the owner is as much a lie as everything else he has ever written (to me and to the BBB). He claims that "customer has been caught copying dvds and then requesting money back from merchants, makes threats to post bogus" and "we are all aware of this customer, we are all in the process of pressing charges". Both of those statements are 100% untrue. I have been truthful in all my reports and charges filed against this company and I have a mound of evidence to support my case. I have the box of DVD's, all still in the original shrinkwrap, as they were shipped to me, I have all emails to and from this business and I have copies of all of the reports and complaints I have filed. I have a copy of his response to the BBB. He keeps telling lies like the one posted here. I wonder what lies he plans to tell the Federal Trade Comission or the FBI when he is investigated for pirating copywritten material. He told the BBB that I had purchased 14 & 15 of every DVD and that I was selling them. He then made up a different story about me in this report, as stated above. He has never filed a single charge against me. I wish he would; I would love to show a judge the evidence I have against him and watch him get caught up in his web of lies.

If they had been unsatisfied and contacted the company about it, they would have been insulted and treated rudely as I was. The emails that I posted from Mr. Butts were copied and pasted. I didn't change anything. If you compare the spelling, punctuation and grammar in the copies of emails in the original rip-off report with the spelling, punctuation and grammar of the person (owner) that filed the rebuttal to that report, you can tell it is truly the same individual. And he hasn't stopped calling me names either. He called me chump in his emails and "nutcase" in his rebuttal. Professional indeed.
The facts stand for themselves. 7 BBB complaints in less that 1 year speak loud and clear for what kind of company Family DVD Wholesale really is. What excuse will Mr. Butts come up with for those?
