Family First Caregivers (Jim Nowak owner) is a Rip Off! First of all the company is family owned and private (not paid threw insurance, but every Thursday you can count on money hungry Jim walking into your home (he just opens your door) and getting his check off the table). That is about the only thing promised at Family First that your check will be collected bright and early Thursday by Jim. When he comes in most of the time he does not even greet his employees! This is not the issue Family First provides a "service" and the victims must pay.
$18 an hour for at home care-giving which consists of employees text messaging doing homework talking on cell phones or sleeping! Now this is not all of the girls that work there but I can easily say the majority in which we have met. Family First is care-giving not health care so the employees need absolutely no education in caring for their clients. Jim states on his website that his employees are trained, I personally witnessed this so called training and its an absolute joke! Training consists of another under qualified care giver showing the trainee "the ropes", THAT'S ALL!
Jim is a get rich quick kind of guy. When you first meet him you cant believe how caring and compassionate he appears. Jim sells you on this service he almost pressures you to use his company promising that everything you need is all inclusive in your set hourly rate. He stated and its also on his generic website that unlike other companies he will not charge you for schedule changes or cancellations. NOT TRUE if you cancel or the services are not needed that day he will add $25 to your weekly bill for each schedule change.
Jim is always very "sketchy" and nervous when he speaks. He seemed like a very shady person to me after our second meeting when I over heard him speaking with Ronda his right hand on the phone. I have met Ronda multiple times and she is an absolute joy! We were always able to count on her answering the phone when Jim was unreachable. I can honestly say from speaking with multiple employees Ronda is the only reason they still work at Family First! The employees all complain to one another about how they dislike Jim and how unfair he is to them, many have confided in me about how disrespectful Jim is to them.
Overall our experience with Family First was a nightmare! Light house keeping, medication reminders, and meals (which our family pre made all the care giver had to do was heat it up) were what we asked of Family First. When entering the house it smelled like smoke because the care giver smoked inside, The dust accumulation was disgusting! Honestly we went threw the house cleared it of all valuables and did a deep cleaning so the care givers would only have to clean up after themselves. Dishes were always left in the sink the bathroom trash had bloody tampons not even wrapped up but out in the open! how gross! Also there was always a mix up with medications and the lack of communication between caregivers. One would just assume the girl before gave the medications. Multiple times medications were skipped or given doubles!
I would NOT recommend Family First Caregiving to anyone! This is a dishonest poorly managed company only interested in the seniors money! Two thumbs down to Jim! Family First makes nursing homes look like heaven!

We do our very best and have now been in business 8+ years.
We have made mistakes in our hires but fix those mistakes quickly and professionally. Sometimesd people that we have fired for various reasons feel they were treated unfairly.

I rarely read online complaints but I think it is unfair that the complaints about a company appear before the rebuttals, you cant even find the rebuttals unless you look. Why not give bith sides? It looks like the only people writing about things are the complaints.
Look further and it is obvious one person made a complaint and the other people have corrrected the unfair negative notes.
My family just hired this company and we are thrilled so far. The staff that is with my Dad is very nice and they are very capable of what we need. It is obvious they know what they are doing and really care about my family. My Dad is really happy and we are much less worried about him because we know he is safe.
Family First was the only company that pointed out what we needed and didnt need. Jim is very attentive about our needs and made suggestions when it seemed like it might help. We never felt he pushed us into things and we were all surprised he suggested less care sometimes to help my dad have more independence. The information about medications came right from the OHio laws and it is obvious he cares.
This is a very wellrun company and I will recommend them to anyone who needs this service.

Medication dispensing is only to be done by a DOCTOR, REGISTERED NURSE or LEGAL GUARDIAN.
Contact the State of your residency and report this.
I am Appalled that this business has sustained for this long. Its ILLEGAL to staff personnel who are not registered by the State to dispense meds if that is a condition of their job duty.
I could care less about any of the employees ages... I do CARE that you as a consumer are allowing this to go on without doing your civic duty and reporting this properly to the state and county you reside. Your as guilty if you think reporting it here is the answer. Get a lawyer. Do what is right for all persons .

We love Family First Caregivers. We personally asked Ronda, who told Jim, to not have Delal return to our house. SHe is dishonest, was always on her phone and actually yelled at my 93 yr. old Dad. I personally told Jim he should not trust people like her. We also asked Jim to stop by to pick up a check to save us a trip or a stamp. I like his visits. I hope this Delal person stops being so hateful and realizes she was lucky to have a job with this company.

I was told by a friend that there was a report online about ny company I work for, Family First. We all know that Delal was fired because she was always late, yelled at the family, was always on her phone and we all think she probably failed a drug test. Jim and Ronda have always treated me great and they seem to really care about the family. Jim stops by to pick up checks because that is what the family wants. I think it is nice that he does that and usually brings ice cream or some thank you for all of us that are there. Ronda is really nice too. Don't believe a bad employee who doesn't care about anyone but herself. Jim and Ronda are good peolple who care and I am glad I work here.
