Famous Poet's Society poetry scam, pay money, get entered into a contest take your money West Talent Oregon

I sent an original poem into a contest, because I was intrigued by the 1,000 dollar first place prize and many 500 dollar prizes. My poem was selected as one of the "finalists" I just had to edit it, sign a consent form and it would be published. I thought that was great and wanted to purchase two of the books that they sell for appoximately 40 dollars each, plus a dedication to my fiance for 10 more dollars. I never received the books, which I planned to give as gifts, and never say my poem published, just a check that was cashed for 96.00. I think this is completely awful, when I truly worked hard on the poem and work hard for the money that I own. Please help.
