FaxMicro refuses to cancel account, continues monthly billing instead Lecanto Florida

FaxMicro is one of a number of companies that claim to offer Internet faxing. You submit a document via email or their website, type in the phone number, and it gets sent as a fax.

In the case of FaxMicro, this is all theoretical, since I never got the service to work. Documents I emailed would drop into a black hole. Any document I submitted through the web site, no matter what format it was in, would result in an error message "unable to convert to fax format". I called their toll-free number for help, but I never got anyone to answer the phone. Their "Live Chat" eventually connected me with a guy named Thomas who promised to fix it. After several more attempts with Thomas, faxes still would not send, and I gave up.

Frustrated, I pulled up the feedback form and selected "cancel account" as the reason for contacting them. This generated a cancellation email to me, with instructions to forward it to cancellation@faxmicro.com. I heard from Thomas again, with promises to cancel the account and "stop any further payment from your credit card".

Unfortunately, since that correspondence two months ago, FaxMicro has continued to bill my credit card 4.95 every month. I'm now $15 in the hole for a service which has never worked even once. Mail to their support@faxmicro.com mailbox goes unanswered, the "Live Chat" link no longer works, and the toll free number (1-877-329-7842) is never answered by anyone.

I am now initiating a chargeback with my bank. In the meantime, I wanted to warn anyone looking for an Internet fax service to go elsewhere. I have since created an account with MyFax, and I am happy to report their fax service actually works.
