My husband & I got a card from FCNB right after my husband's bankruptcy. Did really good for years, but then late charge and after late charge, etc.....HUGE PROBLEMS.
We never received any notice that the company was going bankrupt and out of business. The account had been sent to Alliance One (collection agency). We tried several times to make payment arrangements with NO success. They offered us 1 time pay offs and we told them we had NO money....
We finally started using debt consolidation company and attempted to make monthly payments to Alliance one thru the debt consolidation company. Every payment for 9 months was refused (Over$600). I contacted Alliance One Several times trying to get an explanation...they had nothing. They refused to help us and never sent us statements. Then suddenly all communications were stopped and we haven't heard from them for over 1 year.
The account remains as an unpaid account with a balance that is over double our original balance with NO explanation. Alliance one is a horrible, horrible, rude, unprofessional company which harassed us several times a day 7 days a week and recently we found out that they broke laws....
Can anyone help us??? Any suggestions?

Send a certified letter to the address shown.
Explain your situation, also, supply copies of canceled checks or accounting records from your Counseling office to support your position.
I understand they are helpful if you can supply documentatino supporting your claims.
