Federal Government Grant Information Center Rip-Off Claimed that I was approved for an $8000.00 grant but I had to give my bank account number. St. Petersburg Florida

I was called at 9:00 pm to be told I had been approved to receive an $8000.00 federal grant. I was told that I would receive information in about 15 days that required my signature. I was told that I had to give my bank account number.

I was told that I had to pay $257.00 for a processing fee. It was due in ten days. I asked why they needed my account number and was told it was to ensure that I paid for the processing fee.

I kept questioning the individual and refused to give my account number. This person said his name was Alex Watson and gave me his government identity number. He argued with me about this and became very angry. I asked for the phone number and was told that I could not give the number to anyone. He eventually refused to even give me the number and I hung up.

After searching on the Internet, I was directed to this site. The first entry was about this same scam. Luckily, I had realized this was a scam and I did not give my account number. I plan to report this to the authorities.
