Federal Grant Processing Center ripoff Attempt to get personal information through false pretense Saint Petersburg Florida

I received a call at 9:40 p.m. on a Sunday night from a man named "Lawrence," with a foreign accent, from the Federal Grant Processing Center. He said I had been chosen for the "$8,000 Federal Grant that did not have to be paid back, with no interest." (If you don't have to pay it back, what does interest have to do with it?)
He then told me he had my address and could process this grant with my permission.

I immediately thought it sounded strange, especially because I had been chosen to receive this based on my tax paying history - on time, etc. I told him I had never paid taxes from this address (a new one) and he told me all information was given to them by the Federal Information Center.


I asked several times to speak to a supervisor or for a phone number where I could reach one. I also told him several times I didn't understand how he got this phone number and what this call was about. He got angry with my questioning and eventually hung up on me.

After reading about this place on this website, I now realize that I could have been in the same situation as others who have been fooled by this. Please tell all your friends and family about this. I wouldn't want to see someone else pay for these people; I am glad I had enough sense to recognize a rip-off before it was too late.
