Federal Grant Processing Center rip-off! Claiming to have free grant money in return for checking account number. St. Petersburg Florida

I received a call today from a Sylvester Rogers, ID#0618 of the Federal Grant Processing Center in St. Petersburg, FL. He had an Indian accent. I was unsure if I should answer the phone since my caller ID registered the caller as UNKNOWN CALLER. I listened to his speil and thought maybe this was legit.

He asked me to verify my address and telephone number. He then preceded to state that this information was necessary in order to prove I was the correct recepient of the $8000 in grant money. He said that they would send a packet to me with forms that I needed to sign and return ASAP in order to receive the money. I still thought maybe this was legit. Then he wanted me to verify that I had a FDIC bank account. I said yes, he proceeded to ask the bank name and where it was located. He then read the routing number to me and then asked for the next set of numbers.

RED FLAG!!! I now knew something was not right and told him that I was not going to give him my account number. He persistently kept saying that they needed this information to verify I was the correct person. I repeatedly told him I was not going to give him this information and that I know once they have the routing number and the account number they can electronically access your account. He must have thought I was stupid because he tried to convince me that he could not access my account without my permission. Yea right. I told him he was not getting my account number and that I was not interested! Remember if it sounds to good to be true then it probably isn't!!!
