3 out of 4 Bright Effects 65 watt replacement (so, uses 15 watts) CFL floodlight bulbs failed in more or less one year's time. Bought at Lowe's.
Feit Electric responded to my initial inquiry on 11/27/07 saying:
----------------
"... We apologize for the light bulbs that failed prematurely. Our defective rate is less than 1% on all of the more than 60 different types of Compact Fluorescent Lamps that we produce. It is possible that these bulbs were damaged prior to installation.
Please mail (or e-mail) us a copy of the sales receipt or the Proof of Purchase (barcode) from the packaging and we will send you two replacement bulbs at no charge."
...
All of our CFL ECObulbs are rated for 8000-10000 hours (depending upon the exact model) and will last up to 7-9 years when used at a normal household rate of 3 hours per day. Further, these bulbs are warranted to be free from defects in workmanship and material for up to two years from the date of purchase in residential applications. They are warranted for up to one year from the date of purchase in commercial applications. If you have any additional questions about the appropriate use of these bulbs, please e-mail us and we will respond promptly."
----------------
After I provided the proof of purchase (via email) on 11/28/07 they responded:
"Please allow 3-4 weeks for your replacement light bulbs to arrive. Thank you for your patience."
Well, now it's over 3 months later, and I've not received the replacements, nor do they respond to any further email inquiries from me, so it appears that
their initial responses were merely delaying tactics and they never intended to replace their defective bulbs.
I do have other types of Bright Effects CFL bulbs that are working fine, but based on the false advertising and their wasting my time, I would never buy Bright Effects bulbs again.

Bright Effects bulbs burn out too soon.

I built a new house a couple of years ago and Bright Effects bulbs were used through out in every fixture. Now in less than 3 years, they are burning out left and right! So far this month I have replaced 5 /23w bulbs. If I recall correctly, they claimed the average life was around 7 years.... I'm not even getting the 1/2 life from them.
Lowe's used to carry them but no longer does. That should be a clue...
