We bought into Festiva almost 1 1/2 years ago. Upon signing our contract we were verbally told all the benefits to the program, to include that cruise rates were based on "per cabin" not per person (this was what convinced us that we wanted to sign on because we love to cruise). When we signed our contract we were told that we would be paying $173.00 a month and this was our membership fee (all inclusive). Oh this was not true. After 3 weeks we recieved a call that in order to take advantage of the low yearly premium rates for vacationing, we had to pay more money; otherwise at the end of the year would would be paying more fees on top of our maintence fees. So of course, in hopes of getting the better deal, we were now paying $184.00 + $173.00 a month. They also said they would throw in a free cruise and some adventure points. So of course, once again, being decieved- we go to book our first cruise to find out that it is NOT per cabin, but per person. We were also responsible for all port fees and taxes associated with the cruise, which amounted to a little less than what you would pay if you booked through Carnival (but again, this is supposed to be free). Sure they went over the fact that we would pay port charges over the phone, but from the way they made it sound, it was only a little over $100.00; not $600.00. So lets continue.. some stuff happened and we had to cancel our cruise, it was a good experience, the cancellation went smoothly and we were refunded our entire amount. So of course we say... well we will just stick it out since we will want to rebook this cruise at a later time. So now that time is here and we rebook the cruise; and 6 months before the cruise we decide that we need to cancel again because of a death in the family and request a refund. Well now (even though we are way before the cancellation deadline), Festiva decides they are going to keep our money. The only refund a partial. This is crap! So now, with the intent on using that money to book plane tickets, I am now Screwed. So I call them up, and basically they tell me too bad, too sad, theres nothing they will do about it. Furthermore, on top of the $380 we are paying a month for these services, we have already paid them our maintenence fee (over $1000.00), and they sent us a letter saying that there new system allows for our points to automatically roll over.. we guess what didnt happen.
This whole company is a scam and I will do ANYTHING to get out of it. I dont even care if I dont get back any money, as long as I or my family NEVER have to pay them another dime or deal with them EVER again. Please help.. we are really sickened about what this company does and would NEVER opt into anything like this ever again. .WORST EXPERIENCE EVER!
