I have a car that is paid off and a budget that is tight. I am afraid my car will need a major repair that I am not able to pay for even though it runs great now. It's like me, it's getting on in years....it's a 2000 with 101K miles...i heard the ad and thought i heard it was eligible since it was less than 200K...when i called he said i was "over the limit"...I questioned it, but thought i had heard the ad wrong...i listened to his line about getting it approved by his super...
since i have made many car deals, I'm well aware of the "let me consult my super..." routine. he came back after 30 sec. and what do you know he could work a miracle and get me approved. then we got into $. for around $2,500 i could pay for this 5 yr warranty..which card would i like to use...i said i couldn't afford that- he broke it into payments; how accommodating. payments of around $300 down and 190some a mo. i said i couldn't afford that. he asked if i was retired and explained that he hated to be so rude...i said i was working but almost retired. he said because i was senior he could get me a deal, but had to consult with "guess who...the super.
he came back...now the deal had dropped to $95 down and $70some a mo. for 24 months...but i had to take the offer right then..which card would i like to use...then i had more questions, he was perservering quite well, and kept asking "which card would i like to use" ...i explained that i don't buy things like this on the spur of the moment without having the info in writing and in front of me...he said that's not how it worked - and i said well, how would i be sure i had what he said i had..he explained how Fidelis was A++ rated,,, ppppffffttt, and how they had been in business for 25 yrs.
and how their NASCAR sponsor wouldn't speak for them if he wasn't 100% on the up and up...which card would i like to use...then i said well, what if i'm not happy with it when i get it...oh you can cancel it anytime... and we would issue a refund..which card would i like to use...i smelled a rat...took Pollyanna quite a while since i wanted to believe that someone would give my poor old car a warranty since that's what i wanted to hear... thankfully, i ran and hid....he was well trained in the art of bulls&^* ! BEWARE... which card would YOU like to use....NONE

Boy, can I relate....

I just got off the phone with US Fidelis. I called because I saw the commercial and it sounded okay. I also got the line about being retired, and how my payment could be lowered. I was almost hooked, but I got my wife on the phone, who immediately got on the internet and found this website among others detailing their B.S.! The guy on the line kept trying his best to get my credit card, but I used to work in sales and I know that the boss always tells you to do whatever it takes to get a sale. It is a shame that in this rough economic time that some corporations will rip off people who are just trying to get ahead. I guess the saying is true "if it sounds too good to be true, then it ain;t" or something like that. So, buyer beware!
