I lease a car with this Bank. I have never been a bad credit risk or a "slow" payer but I was being charged late fees on my lease payments fairly often with this company. When I would call, they would claim that the mail was slow. Then I got smart. I signed up for internet banking with my local bank and started paying Fifth Third this way (by the way this "Bank" does not except electronic payments!). Since I have been paying my lease payment through the internet Fifth Third has charged me 3 late fees but I have proof when they received the payment now!

It is a pain but I have to send them the proof and then talk to about 5 or 6 very rude and not very bright customer service reps but they credit back the late fee. I think they just charge these fee arbitrarily and see who fights them. This is a very unprofessional and rude bank. I will never deal with them again!

they sure are very unprofessional and abusive towards me.

Krista,

If you had read my report you would have noticed that since I started internet banking Fifth Third bank has tried to charge me late fees on three different occations. All three were reversed because I has proof of when fifth third received my payment. I do not abuse the reps at Fifth Third but they sure are very unprofessional and abusive towards me.

Missouri offers 10 days on loans before late charges are assessed. Obviously you are sending your payment later than your due date... The 10 day period is only there to compensate for mailing delays. Please don't abuse the system, and definitely don't abuse the reps, you will need them one day.
