Buyer beware! I found a Best Homes power reclining sofa and chair in a local store here in Rhode Island and looked online to make sure I was going to get the best possible deal. Figstores had it a bit cheaper because they were having a sale. I had their interior design consultant Iris help me with fabric and color choices for the recliner. I sent her several pictures of my home and we went back and forth for weeks making sure I was picking the right color for my home. I was told I was ordering a taupe leather and reviewed the sample online. My first mistake was to pay in full with a routing # from my bank because I received an addition 2% off- huge mistake on my part.
I waited over 2 months for the delivery and the recliner came with a hole that was painted over with some sort of repair paint, the bases were the wrong finish, there is a huge stitching error on the arm and the material is a cheap polyutherine- not leather at all and it is a horrible splotchy color. I immediately called figstores and talked to Mark Newton the manager who immediately said that the manufacturer would never have sent a piece of furniture with damage & asked me if I had read their return policy. He said at best they would send a repair man to repair the damage or Best Homes would replace the damaged parts. I immediately knew I made a mistake because he was very defensive and not at all apologetic. I should have never received a chair that had a hole in the first place. If the hole was accidentally made by the manufacturer they should have sent a new chair.
At this point A repaired chair is not good enough either because the material color and quality is unacceptable. I then contacted Iris the designer and she agreed that that fabric didn't turn out the color that we had agreed upon. She apologized that she made an error in ordering the wrong color bases. She was going to call Best Homes and get back to me. I ordered these chairs on October 24. It is now January 24th and fig stores is still refusing to refund my order. After filing a complaint with the Better Business Bureau Mark is now claiming that the bases came in the correct color and that the material is a polyutherine leather blend. They have been unresponsive for weeks at a time and Mark Newton is a liar.
Their website claims to be a faith based company that has the best customer service in the industry with the best return policy. This is all a lie. Their website says clearly that A return can be made if there is and error on the order. This company will do anything it can to not take responsibility. They will not protect you as a consumer from the manufacturer if there is anything wrong with your order. Pay more if you have to and do not use this company. You will be sorry if your furniture comes damaged. They will not let you return it without having to pay and an enormous return shipping fee. A chair that cost me $646 is going to $387 to return. I am so sad that I believed that my money was in good hands- they should not be able to say that they are a faith based company. They are a bunch of crooks!

Fig stores had us sign a contract that we would remove negative reviews and they would then give us a full refund. I could not remove this review and one other, but was told by the manager that writing a rebuttal was sufficient. Furniture was returned and then the owner Brad Newton went back on his word and said he would not give us a refund because we didn't take these two reviews down. Filed a small claims suit and when the Chesapeake Sheriff's dept attempted to serve them they have vacated their building. They won't return emails or phone calls. Mark Newton the brother and manager says he is no longer working for Fig stores. Do not trust these people. They are a scam.We lost over $1800 & 6 months of torture dealing with these shady people who claim to be faithful. The furniture has been returned and they resell the returned furniture on Craigslist. Filed with BBB and the VA Attorney General.
