Finest Playa Mujeres Cash Stolen from Room the Day We Checked In - Management Did Not Care Cancun Quintana Roo Mexico

We had an unfortunate incident while staying at this resort. We checked into our ocean front room (yep, paid the small fortune for one of the best rooms) on Thursday, November 15th at 3:30 pm.  Our kids were excited to get to the beach so we quickly left our luggage/personal items and headed to the beach.  (Mistake #1, We know better than to leave a hotel room without putting our money/passports in the safe.  But we left all of this out in the room).

At 6:30 pm, we returned to our room.  Our wallet was on the bed (of which we'd left it on the counter).  All of our cash totaling $1000 was gone.  We called security.  They seemed emphatic and attentive at that time.  They searched everything including all of our luggage and personal items. They requested that we allow them 48 hours to investigate.  That turned into 72 hours.

We met with the hotel director for the investigation findings.  Sadly, he said the hotel was not responsible for the money that was STOLEN from our room.  He also told us we should have locked up our valuable items.  (Obviously). 

We then checked out of the resort 4 days early and requested our reservation be canceled and for all remaining days to be refunded.  This was declined.

So not only did they STEAL $1000 cash, but they refused to REFUND the unused days on our reservation ($3000). 

DO NOT STAY AT THIS RESORT. SPREAD THE WORD. THEY EMPLOY THIEVES. AND MANAGEMENT DOES NOT TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR THEIR STAFF'S BEHAVIORS. 

We travel to Mexico 2-3 times per year and stay at family-friendly all-inclusive resorts. We've never had a problem like this.  It's so sad that the management of this resort did not do anything about the theft and did not refund the money for our unused days of this vacation.  Horrible.
