I got a call from Sandy, who represents Fire Safety Magnets. She said that for $700, I could be an exclusive home care advertiser on laminated boards that are distributed throughout DuPage county. She said that the program is 3 years long and they have an order for 40,000 that they will be filling next week. She also said that the advertising pays for the laminated boards. I did the math while I was talking to her, 4 ads, $700.00 each, $2,800 to produce 40,000 laminated boards? That is $.07 per board. That is a big red flag. The order is for next week? How can they get the proofs together, printed and shipping in only one week? Of course she wanted my credit card number right away to reserve my ad space. I asked her for a number I could call her back on. She did not give me a number to call her back, instead she asked me why I was hesitant. I asked her which fire departments she had an agreement with. She said she ships them all to Bensenville and that they distribute them throughout DuPage from there. I asked for a contact at the Bensenville fire department. I told her I want to find out about the program and how they are distributed. Of course, she could not give me a contact. I asked for a copy of the signed agreement with the Bensenville Fire Department. She said she would email it to me. It never came. She said she would call me back. I guess I asked too many questions, she hasn't called back. After I got off the phone with her I checked the BBB. This company has an F rating with 41 complaints. I am thankful to the people before me that took the time to write a review, so if she does call back, I won't become a victim.
