I just wanted to report that First Convenience Bank has another victim/ex-customer. I recently made a lot of purchases, computer equipment mostly, then went on vacation. I was diligent, I kept track of my spending and as far as I knew I was cutting it close but definitely in the black.

I get back and check my account a few days later and I find out that there was an automatic charge that came in and threw everything off. I over drafted by about $12. That's fine, I'm not happy but fair is fair and I was perfectly willing to pay a fee. But I didn't get just one fee, I got eight.

I went in to speak with the bank manager to get this straightened out, I thought it would be obvious that $280 in OD charges on a $12 OD would be an easy thing to clear up, in fact, I had a credit on it's way back to the account that would have more than taken care of the overage and a fee.

I was mistaken. The manager described the situation repeatedly as "not a banking error" and that she would not reverse all the charges. I told her that I didn't want ALL of the charges reversed, just the seven extra ones. Eventually after about an hour of back and forth and her trying to buy me off with a $100 credit I was told that she'd have to contact her district manager.

I'm going to go in tomorrow and see what the verdict is. Either way I'm not going to pay it, I will not be robbed, and as far as I'm concerned that credit that went through has more than squared my account.
