I received several calls at work from a lady named Miss Wells stating that she worked for United Cash Loans and I owed $308. This account was paid off a long time ago. I informed her of that and she yelled in the phone and told me they (United Cash Loans)were about to garnish my wages.
I stated to her that I needed to call my bank to get the information on the payment that was made and I would call her back. She gave me a number to reach her at (312-491-7819.(Which I found out later that's a number for a company called Fulton West.) I called United Cash Loans directly and they stated that they had no clue who this person was and she did not represent their company. I asked to have a letter emailed to me stating I was in good standing.
Something sounded really fishy at this point so I contacted the FTC and the Attorney General for Illinois and filed complaints. Today 1/13 I received a message from my employer that a Miss Lugo called wanting to talk to me about a debt. I got the number and called back. I got a lot of recorded messages. It took 7 phone calls back to get a live person on the line. He answered the phone saying "hello."
Can you believe that. I asked him was this a business and then he straightened up and told me that I was about to be garnished by United Cash Loans. I told him that I spoke to the loan company and they said I was in good standing. He told me that wasn't true. I told him that they received my information fraudulently and I intended on filing complaints with the BBB, FTC and Attorney General. He hung up on me.
I called back and got Miss Wells. She wouldn't give me any contact information so I could send the letter from United Cash Loans to them. She said they were under contract and didn't care what United Cash Loans said because my account was on their desks. I told her that if she didn't give me a fax number where I could send these docs I would sue her for violating the Fair Debt Collection Act. She gave me a fax number that won't accept faxes. (312-986-9198)
I called back and only get recordings. Left a message. Waiting for the papers from the Attorney General so I can finish filing my complaint. Lisa Madigan's office suggested that I file a small claims lawsuit against them. I think I might just do that! If anyone is out there and they want to join in on a class action let me know. I know there have to be others who have gone through the terror I'm going through now.

Thanks for your comment but that didn't help. They no longer call me because I reported them to the FTC, FBI Bureau of Internet Fraud etc. I tried calling them several times before I got others involved but they would not accept the fact that this debt was paid. I faxed them several times with information supporting my argument but never got a response from them. I ended up getting a block put on my phone so I wouldn't get calls from unknown numbers. That helped my sanity alot. I know you worked for them but you have no idea how many problems your former employer has caused in my life with their harassing calls.

Dear Mem, if you have proof that a debt has been paid. Its best to mail the proof of payment to the adress you have with any pertinent information . First Credit will then contact the Corperate office of the Client and remove you from their data base. It may be that the local office you contacted did not report the info to their Coorperate office
