I had the same exerience the other poster had.
I recently spent some time in the hospital. I happen to be doing well at the moment so I pay all of my bills immediately. I have paid every bill I have in got in the mail from all the doctors . I dont see the charge they are refering to on my insurance statements
I have recieved no correspondance from the hospital and I actually talked to them last week to make sure I had a 0 balance and that was confrimed
I have never heard from this company or recieved any other peice of mail yet the letter reads:
"We have extended to you every oppourtunity to either arrange for payments or settle this debt and you have refused.
What happens next is your responsibility!
You have left us with no alternative but to close your file. This will indicatie to the further parties where you apply for credit taht you have ignored your obligation. This will remain on your credit for up to 7 years . Is this what you want?
This is your last chance to show that you care about your credit and want to voluntarily satisfy that debt that currently appears on your credit report. We urge yout o contact our office withing hte next 5 days to arrange payment"
This is the craziest thing I have ever read considering i had 0 contact from either the hospital or this company before hand.
Going to speak with a lawyer monday.

I decided to Pay this bill with the collection agency in order to get them to remove the false remarks on my credit.
I was called yesterday by April . She told me to go on the site and pay , and gave me an account number to use.
I did this immediately.
I then recieved this email this morning from Alyse@ffcc.com
"Hi Anthony,
I cant find your account in our system. You had used XXXXXX as your account numver on our website but thats not coming up. Where did you get our information from? Could this be under another name? .
"
So yesterday I spoke to someone twice. They tell me to pay the bill. I do so , and then I am not in the system. This company needs to be shut down. This has got to be a joke. Who did I just give my checking account number to?

The company called me today. The rep was nice but not helpful at all.
I asked for the contact information of the creditor. She said all she has is a PO box. No phone , or any other information than West Boca EKG Associates and a PO box
I asked for copies of the letters they sent me at any previous time , she said they dont have that but they apparently tried to contact me several times.
When I asked why then did this final letter reach me with no problems? she had no answer.
She said they do not keep records of letters sent out and all she knows is a date.
I get my mail every day. I foward my mail when I move and change my address. Trust me , im on top of it.
truth be told the bill is only $75. I have plenty of money to pay for it. I have paid every hospital bill I have recieved but it drives me nuts that someone can use these tactics to get an extra $75 out of someone legally. From what I have read about this on the BBB it seems to happen quite often. I have a feeling whoever this EKG service is , is trying to skirt the law by submitting all accounts directly to a collections agency. Its really West Boca EKG that is the problem.
Im sure if you followed the paper trail its probably owned by the same people.

If I were in your shoes I would pull a copy of your credit report to see if the collections agency has reported it or not at this stage. Then send a written letter to this First Federal Credit and Collections to have them disclose the creditor name and amount and contact information. Send this letter CMRRR (Certified Mail, Return Receipt Request). This starts the clock for the collector and prevents them from placing a collection on your credit report until they respond to your request. This also allows you to show the CFPB or any other agency that you did your part immediately upon their notification to you. If this is a legitimate collection then you can take care of it directly with the original creditor (most likely, sometimes it has to be through the collection agency).
Having evidence of sending the letter also allows you to show the CFPB or any other agency that you did your part immediately upon their notification to you. If this is a legitimate collection then you can take care of it directly with the original creditor (most likely, sometimes it has to be through the collection agency). If the collection was already paid prior to being sent to collections you can respond immediately so they can't put it in on your credit. There may be additional remedies available to you. Take a look at legitimate credit websites for proper handling of this collection. Good Luck.
