First Meridian Mortgage Company - Tampa Incompetent Broker Cost me Thousands of Dollars Tampa, Florida

The following was the survey results I sent to Lending Tree after dealing with Meridian Mortgage Company in Tampa. This is my personal experience but I would STRONGLY suggest that you avoid this company at all costs! A nightmare.

The company you recommended to me was completely incompetent. They did not know what paperwork was necessary for my situation. I was told I qualified for a 15 year conventional loan so I sold my home at a huge loss to move to a new area. Once there (in the home I was supposed to buy), the broker kept asking for information everyday. I was supposed to close on the 14th of December and my broker stopped calling me back. My realtor or the title company couldn't reach him. I contacted his "boss" who told me his job was just to make sure the broker showed up for work. They told me AFTER I was supposed to close that I hadn't received alimony payments for 1 year so I didn't qualifity for this loan. Shouldn't they have known that? In the meantime, I sold my house, moved to a new city, moved into the house I was supposed to buy and THEN told I didnt qualify. I was forced to apply for a FHA loan which would be another month away. That mistake cost me my homestead exemption for 2009.

The FHA loan cost me an additional $13,000 over the course of the loan along with extra PMI (even though I put 20% down) and a loan at a higher apr rate. Every single time the broker called me it was to request information that had been previously sent or something that should have been requested at the beginning of the application. I felt that this was the VERY FIRST TIME this company had ever processed a loan.  From the insurance company to the realtor, everyone agreed that they had never dealt with such an ignorant and rude group of people. This was without a doubt one of the WORST experiences of my entire life. I will never recommend Lending Tree or Meridian Mortgage to anyone and plan on filing complaints with the FTC, BBB, etc.  It eventually got to the point that I had to close by Jan. 15th or move out of my current home on the 16th. I closed at 4pm January 15th after more complications than I can remember. A horrible horrific experience.
