I have contacted First Priority van lines for my moving from Monroe, LA to Clearwater, FL. My initial deposit was 1297.53 dollars which I paid before moving. They had given me pick up window but never picked up my stuff. I have called them many times but no responded after paying a deposit. during pick up window, no one answered any call or provided any accurate time.

I have called after pick window expired, so I have driven myself U-hual and moved my stuff.

After several calls, They told me that we will process your refund. after 3 weeks, they made another false promise saying, we will refund your money after receiving money from the trucking company.

Finally, after 8 weeks, they told me that billing depart has rejected my refund process without providing any reason.

Please help!

These Guys Are Brokers - Not Movers

AUTHOR: Jim - (United States)

POSTED: Wednesday, September 19, 2018

These guys are not authorized to perform any moves whatsoever, according to the DOT.  They are only authorized to broker moves to another company.  So what you ended up doing is pay a moving broker your money to see if they can find you a mover - something you could have done on your own.  Having said all that, you would have been better off simply moving yourself via U-Haul in the first place.  I can guarantee you, the move would have increased in price by another $500-$1000 on top of what you already were quoted before the job was even complete.

Now they didn't find a mover who would do the job and in the middle of summer when most trucks are going in the opposite direction away from Florida, I'm not surprised they didn't find anyone.  So now they have your money and they won't refund you because they're still waiting for a commission payment or 2 from a few movers who already scammed someone else.  Since you're in FL now, you can probably threaten a lawsuit in small claims - simply filing the paperwork will probably get payment to you.  Movers generally aren't afraid of a lawsuit except in a situation where the broker failed to find anyone; they know it's a loser and will hold the money until the threat to them becomes real.

Best of luck to you...
