As a former employee of Fit Turf I know all the ins and outs of this garbage company. First off they say they use "golf course grade" fertilizer on your lawn. LIE. Fit turf uses the dirt cheapest fertilizer available in bulk quanity. They say they add a sticker agent to their weed control to "help" the weeds die quicker. LIE. Sticker agents add more cost to production and the owner definately will not have that. Fit turf sends out marketing mailers with free applications promised and free this and free that. Guess what...You're getting nothing for free from these guys. What they do is tell you your getting it free and 5-6 months later (after you forget) a rep will call you and SELL you a bs application that you probably didnt need or want to begin with. And over and over and over and over. Before you know it some smooth talker like myself will have milked you for well, who knows maybe a grand by the years end.

Fit Turf is a marketing machine that happens to do lawn care. You've probably got a phone call or more like 500 calls from them. The owner whos already a 20 million + millionaire just cant get enough. He spent over 40,000.00 on a super high tech dialer that calls over 700 people per second...Seems a bit much huh? There were times when someone forgot to turn it off and it called repeatedly all night and day over the weekend. And you never know its them because they change the caller id on the dialer multiple times a day (to a disconeccted number) to ensure you dont know who it is. I almost forgot the first thing we said to every customer was a lie! "Were a small local company". Fit Turf is not small at all and definately not local, well not when i was there. We were calling from Detroit and saying we were local. LIE!

Last but not least..If you make the mistake of working for this greedy lying company expect this. NO benefits, 2 sick days a year..YES 2. No paid vacation ever. Also being that i WAS the best salesman in that company i got screwed the most. They say you get commissions after the work is done and the customer has paid. I never got any kind of reports or anything detailing how my commissions were being paid. I was just supposed to trust them. HAHAHA! The jokes on me and everyone else I worked with besides the owners daughters boyfriend who of course got special treatment. When i was "let go" i had sold over 250,000.00 of scheduled work. Yes i had the biggest paycheck there and when Paul the owner of the compay saw that my commissions were actually getting to where I thought they should be i was let go. You see Fit Turf hires people in, pays them barely enough to get by, promises them the world then when the season starts to slow down and you cant sell like you did earlier in the year. BYE BYE! And guess where all your commissions and hard work go...Right into PAUL WAGNERS POCKET(The Owner). The strange thing is that when i was let go..I had just sold over 40.000.00 worth of upsells (Perimeter Pest Control & Bed/Border services) both of which are complete bs services they dont work and unfortunately the b&b service ended with most customers left with dead gardens.

The salesman the technicians even the CUSTOMERS mean nothing to this company. All that matters is NUMBERS NUMBERS NUMBERS! Quality is not in their vocabulary AT ALL. So while Paul drives his fancy european sports cars and brags about his millions, myself and the other 8 people here in Michigan who were let go can now find their way at the unemployment office. The company is SCUM, the owner is SCUM and if you want a mediocre if not terrible looking lawn go ahead and call fit turf.

My View of Fit Turf

AUTHOR: B Page - (United States of America)

POSTED: Thursday, June 10, 2010
After reading this post from a previous employee, I felt that I had to tell the truth about Fit Turf so everyone can understand what a great company it is. Its employees and customers are always treated with kindness and respect.
I am a former Operations Manager for a landscape company back in Michigan. I recently moved to Denver and by sheer luck, I was connected with Fit Turf. Upon the interview I learned more about Fit Turf and who the owner is. I knew the company he owned in Michigan and its reputation, since it was a competitor of mine. I felt it was a great opportunity to work for a person with his reputation. Since I have been there he has not only met every expectation but exceeded them. He, and everyone else there, has treated me with nothing but kindness and graciousness. For this guy to say that commissions aren't paid is a complete lie. I actually left the company for a few weeks to explore a new field. After realizing my mistake I met with Paul about coming back to Fit Turf. Not only did he take me back, but Fit Turf is still paying me for previous commissions earned and I still am getting the health and 401k benefits that he supposedly doesn't offer. The difference between me and this bitter person is I am honest. I have never met this person, but I spent a good portion of my day trying to solve issues this person created. The only thing I know about this guy is he was signing customers up for services they did not agree to just so he could get the commissions. What would that say about Fit Turf if they did not let someone like that go? I know every employee there works hard and honestly because the truly believe in what they are doing.
The claim that Fit Turf uses garbage material and doesn't include sticker is another complete lie. As a matter of fact, we order sticker in 55 gallon drums. The amazing thing is, these drums eventually run out. I wonder where it goes? Maybe we just dump it out back somewhere. In my position I get to see what products we order and what we pay for them. I know from several years experience in the business, these products are of the highest quality and are quite expensive compared to what is out there. In fact, we use some products that other companies don't use because they are too expensive. What really amazes me, is how Fit Turf can give their customers such great deals. Now I can't say that Fit Turf is perfect and we never make mistakes, however, when we do, we run out as soon as we can to fix those mistakes. Fit Turf offers free service calls for those customers who think that their lawn could use a little extra care. If we happen to kill a plant or break a sprinkler head, we replace with no questions asked. Even after we fix our mistakes I have seen Paul and our vice-president give customers free services as a way of showing how sorry they are and how much they value them as a customer.
I feel honored to work for Fit Turf and its management. I know they are honest to their employees and their customers. The customer is the first thing of importance to all Fit Turf employees. We value each and every customer and work as hard as possible to ensure they get the very best service. I hope people can see through the lies and nonsense of the previous post. Fit Turf is truly a great company!

Sincerely,
Brett Page

Fit Turf is a Great Company

AUTHOR: RCH - (USA)

POSTED: Sunday, January 31, 2010

As a current employee of Fit Turf, I vouch for the integrity and quality of this company.  The previous employee who filed the initial report seen here was fired, because he was putting through "sales" that were never authorized by our customers.  He acted in an extremely selfish manner, completely disregarding the well-being of this company, co-workers, and the people this would ultimately affect here in the greater Denver area.  After we realized what his antics were, we changed a few of our policies related to sales; most importantly, we put one person in charge of auditing all of our sales.  That person is me, my name is Richard, and if you've ever called us here at the office, chances are you've spoken to me.  A portion of my pay is related to keeping customer cancels at a minimum, thus, I have a strong incentive to make sure that our sales are authorized and fully understood by our customers.  Paul Wagner owned a company back in Michigan called Masters Green; a company that he grew to over 20,000 customers.  TruGreen recently bought it out a couple years ago, and they are still doing business as Masters Green.  This should tell you that the company was extremely reputable and respected within Michigan.  I've known Paul for several years and I will tell you that he is a man with integrity and committment to his customers and staff alike.  100% of the staff here at Fit Turf live within the greater Denver area.  We are not a huge marketing machine, we are a small company of just 13 people.  We are currently getting into our second full year here and are excited for the opportunity to prove ourselves as a great company and back up all of our claims.  I'm proud to be an employee here at Fit Turf, and I hope you can see through the fog that this review has created and understand that we aren't here to get you, we're here for you.

Cheers,

Richard

You bitter little man

After a year of employment in the industry, you are much less than qualified to critisize the owner, management, or business, let alone to write any sort of middle school level "essay" on how you were done wrong, or weren't able to make a living.

Anybody with half a brain and the god-given right to communicate with another human being can make a good living working for Paul.  All it takes is a bit of common sense and a good work ethic. You obviously lack both.

I haven"t worked for Paul in over two years but the knowledge I have gained from working whithin his organazation has proven invaluable to my career and paycheck.

My only advice to you is, grow up kid.  Some people are born to sell, others are born to b***h about being sold.

Good luck Paul

The Real Truth About Fit Turf

AUTHOR: The Real Truth - (USA)

POSTED: Friday, October 23, 2009

As a current employee of Fit Turf in Denver, I feel compelled to respond to this report.  I have worked for Fit Turf for close to a year and find the comments made in the previous entry to be completely questionable.

I have worked in this industry in this area for over 12 years and have never had a better experience than the one Ive had thus far with Fit Turf.  The compensation is by far better than any Ive received elsewhere and I am treated with what I feel is a great deal of respect by the all of the managers as well as the owner.

In my position, I have a lot of customer interaction and perform the companys range of services for its customers the range of products that I apply (including a spreader sticker with every weed control application) are of a higher quality than those used at any of the companies that Ive worked for previously including some of the biggest ones out there.  I would say that of the customers that I encounter every day, 95% of them are extremely satisfied with the results theyve received and from what Ive seen first hand, the company makes every effort to ensure the satisfaction of each of its customers.  In fact, Ive spent the entire day today and yesterday performing free services that were offered to customers earlier in the season as a promotional offer so I really do not know what to say about some of the claims made other than the fact that they are flat-out false!  I work very hard day-in and day-out and take great care of Fit Turfs customers my customers.

If the person who wrote that is who I think it is (which it is), he is lucky that he kept his position for as long as he did.  I and the rest of the technicians, as well as the office staff, had endless headaches through out the year because of services that he tried adding to current customers accounts (to make a commission) that they never agreed to AT ALL!!!   If anything, I was glad to see that the company was willing to part ways with a big sales producer because of his unethical practices and mistreatment of its customers because it proved to me their commitment to doing good business.  Things dont always work out with every employer / employee relationship, but in this case, this guy brought this on himself no doubt about it!

I wanted to respond because I felt that the previous comments were unfair and the result of the bitterness of a dishonest individual who did as much harm as he did good at least since Ive been here.  Personally, I look forward to a long and promising career with Fit Turf they have a loyal customer base and do things the right way all the way around for their customers and employees.  When they moved all of their operations to Denver, they found new positions for each of their employees in Michigan with similar companies and have built their business largely through the referrals of happy customers.  The owner is a well valued member of the industry community who started his first company out of a garage 20 years ago and built it to a successful and respected company employing hundreds of people along the way.  He has always been straight forward and honest with me and I know that our customers and I (and my family) are in good hands.
