Five Brothers was hired by CENLAR, Central Loan Administration & Reporting, to conduct property management preservation of my recently deceased father. The property is located in Menasha, Wisconsin and I reside in Hawaii. Background history: my father passed away in December and I eventually became the administrator of my fathers estate. The difficulty with my situation is that my father had no will and lived alone. Ultimately I was able to hire and estate lawyer to assist with my father's estate. Since mortgage payments were behind due to his death, CENLAR placed the property in foreclosure and hired Five Brothers to "preserve" my father's property. When Five Brothers was given permission to enter my father's house from CENLAR, they took it upon themselves to steal personal belongings, to include family heirlooms that should have remained within our family, collectibles, jewelry, cologne and even clothing.
I find it interesting that if you were to research the Five Brothers website and click on the tab for Property Preservation, they make the following claim as their work statement : "Five Brothers provides a variety of regulatory-compliant residential and commercial property preservation services. We act quickly and effectively to ensure that each property is secured and maintained consistent with applicable investor/insurer guidelines. Our nationwide network of experienced field service professionals delivers the timely and cost-effective performance you need- every time." They are correct in the fact that they work quickly and effectively securing each property by stealing personal property within 1 day of entering a property. I first was contacted by my fathers neighbor when she noticed that Five Brothers showed up to the property and started to change the lock and start hauling bags of items from the property into their work vehicles. It was on that day that she called me in a panic to let me know of what was going on. Previously, I had arranged for her to clean all trash and food from my fathers house after his death. So when I was finally able to talk to the property manager, Shane Tilman, he told me that he was cleaning out the remaining food and trash left in the house. What a coincidence that the task to do so was already done at least 1 week prior.
When asked about the bags of items being removed from the property, Shane Tilman said " that they can only take items that will either negatively affect the property or what they are allowed by law to remove, no personal items can be taken by the statutes of the law." To add insult to injury, Shane Tilman claims that they had to repair siding that was falling off the property and had to remove lawn statues and ornaments that were deteriorated or broken. I had visited my father in October prior to his passing and none of the statues of lawn ornaments were broken or deteriorated nor the siding falling off as he claimed. Five Brothers are nothing like the "effective preservation" company that they claim to be. Their property managers and management team saw an opportunity based on the misfortune that I live in Hawaii and my father's property is in Wisconsin. They took advantage of our family while we were not only dealing with the death of my father but trying to contact any and all companies or accounts that he had. They stole family heirlooms that may never be seen again and personal belongings that my father would have given to his only son, me.
To self proclaim on the company website "Celebrating 50 years of excellence, Five Brothers consistently provides innovative, regulatory-compliant asset management solutions that save time, eliminate errors and increase efficiency for residential services nationwide. Proven on the ground field services, experience-based partnering, advanced technology and knowledgeable customer service professionals empower our clients to maximize asset preservation while reducing costs and mitigating risk" could not be farther from the truth.
I am appalled that this company would allow employees like Shane Tilman to allow theft while under his watch, let alone to lie to myself on the phone when confronted. Five Brothers should be investigated or more importanty be taken to court for the actions that they allow their employees or Asset Management Teams to do.
