I had brought my '89 Mustang to be serviced for a power door lock that would only work intermittently. They said they replaced the actuator.

I also told them I was taking a road trip to San Diego and for them to inspect the car. They told me they had checked everything.

On my trip, my car stalled on me twice going and twice coming back. The second time, I had to be towed to a reapair shop in Yuma, which cost me some $800 for towing and parts. It was because Five Star did NOT check my fuel filter, which I would think one would do before sending someone on a road trip.

About the door lock, it gave me trouble again this week and I had it replaced at another establishment. Five Star did NOT put a replacement, it is definitely the original acuator selonoid.

The point is they should have said something about it if I'm going on a road trip, and that's when a fuel filter will fail you.

THEY DID NOT replace anything. Especially the solenoid for my door lock, that's what I'm really steamed about. They were SUPPPOSED to replace it, and DID NOT.

There's no way to "check" a fuel filter. Either you replace it or leave it as is. If you didn't, you should have had a tune up before you left on your trip and asked them to replace it. Even so, you could have gotten some gas with some contaminents(sp) in it on the road. You have a 16/17 year old car. Things are bound to go wrong with it. Which parts did they replace?
