FixIt Im scared to buy Auto Parts from FixIt through Amazon. Lexington Kentucky

Number 1. Don't buy it. You can install it but you have a BIG PROBLEM WHEN YOU CLOSE THE TAIL GATE.

If this company can't make this simple Item to spec. Then I would worry about anything more complex than a small cable with a Eyelet on each end.

I noticed when I opened the package that the Bolts they supplied (which was the right size) had a VERY VERY Shallow cut for the Hex Head screwdriver you would use to install it (both Bolts had the same deficiency) POOR QUALITY CONTROL!!

OK. Since I had the bolts off the old cables I used them. So I got past that PROBLEM.!

Now you can install this product improperly if you don't orient the end with the Oval hole that hooks to the Tailgate itself. However when you install it on the Oval stud on the tail gate you will find that the GAUGE of the material which is used to make the Eyelet with the Oval hole in it is to THICK and as a result it barely fits over the Oval head stud on the tailgate and is so tight a fit that it does not allow the Eyelet to swivel easily and as a result it hits a mounting screws for the bracket of the Oval Stud. As a result the the Tailgate Jams closed and it is very hard to open lock on the tail gate to open it.

At this point I don't know if I will be able to open the tailgate without damaging it or the lock. There is NO WAY that the people who designed or manufactured this 3rd party cable tried to install it on the vehicle it was made for (Toyota 2002 Tacoma Pickup).

I suspect it was manufactured in China by "Political Prisoners". I would suggest you pay a couple of bucks more and order it through Autozone, O'reillys or your local parts store so you can see if it fits when you pick it up and try it on your vehicle in their parking lot.

Though I use Amazon to purchase complete items. This is the first time I purchased Auto Parts through them. I was considering purchasing an Oxygen Sensor for my truck through Amazon, but this really SCARES ME.

I will do that at one of the parts stores above as they have a reputation on my street and my town to maintain rather than the "FixIt" Warehouse at 172 Trade Street in Lexington, KY 45011, USA
