Florida DCF DCF takes child from a deaf mother because there were roaches in the apartment. Miami Florida

My mother is a deaf social worker who does advocacy for the deaf. The stories she tells me makes me want to cry and scream in anger and rage but this one I think needs to be told because I feel that DCF is VERY much in need of an overhaul and workers need to be trained in what constitutes as abuse.
There was a deaf mom of a young child. The child was around two when she was taken from her mom. Prior to the child being taken my mother had several session with the mom. My mom says that the child was a very happy baby, always smiling and running around. Obviously a very LOVED child, for a child who isnt loved usually isn't very happy. The mother was very attentive to her child and was trying to do the best she could with what little she had. This mother was living in an apartment with several other deaf people. Being born deaf it is very hard for deaf people to communicate and live with hearing people. So trying to make the limited resources stretch as far as possible, they were living in not the best circumstances. However the CDF workers that removed the child from the mother due to the fact that there "roaches in the kitchen and that the mother did not comply when she was ordered to go stay in a shelter." (where there was no one who signed) The last time I checked living with roaches is NOT abuse. Please people yes there are some serious abusers who need HELP and children who need to be protected and LOVED. We need to rise up and realize that ripping children away from LOVING mothers is not the answer. We need heal ourselves and our mothers and our fathers and our children. BE part of the solution, NOT the PROBLEM.
