I also was ripped off by Flyaway Farm and Kennels. I thought the job would be great being able to work with dogs and wildlife. I was hired to manage a pond at an office building at Fort Belvoir. I really enjoyed the job and area but had to quit because I was lied to, showed unethical behavior on the part of the owners and was not paid. The contract eventually went to another contractor.

During "training" I was showed what the dogs could do, and right away I realized they were not completely trained. Most of the dogs didn't even listen to their handler and would not return. I never saw a dog even get in the water, which is a requirement to get rid of stubborn geese. I noticed the way the dogs were "trained" was to let them follow a lead dog and come back when they were ready. The dogs were kept in kennels up to 10 hours a day and only let out once or twice to go to the bathroom. I did not agree with the way most of the dogs were treated and "trained'. I also witnessed a golf course buying a "trained" dog that even during the demonstration didn't do what it was told! The excuse was that the dog just got a shot and didn't feel "comfortable" going in the water. I had to train the dog given to me on my own so she wouldn't run out into traffic.

I worked for Flyaway Farm and Kennels for 3 months. I was paid for maybe 1 month. I was also told I would recieve my paycheck once a month. The first time I was paid was through Western Union after 2 months work, I was given $200.00. I continued to ask for my paycheck and when my calls were taken, which was rarely, I would be Western Unioned around $200-$300.00 at a time. I was never reinbursed for dog food, pet deposit, gas, or wear and tear on my car.

I eventually refused to work unless I was given my full paycheck. I was then wired a little more money, it was ridiculous. Rebecca Ryan didn't even care that her dog didn't have food, and was being fed hamburgers and corned beef because that was all I had.

Do not work or hire this company. They are unethical, lairs and are greedy. People who hire Flyaway Farms will be greatly disappointed. During my time there I was told a few employee stories and stories of unhappy employers, all of course slanted so Flyaway Farms looked taken advantage of.
