I purchased a camera on 12 month no interest in April 2004. No statement was sent until June 2004 which had a 29.00 late fee on it. I paid the entire balance in June and in July they sent a statement with yet another 29.00 late fee that keeps accumalating. This is probably my 4th or 5th major purchase with them and have paid off everything before the no-interest period is up. I guess they are angry because they never get any interest out of me.

#3 REBUTTAL Individual responds

It does not work like that

AUTHOR: Alex - (U.S.A.)

This is a response to the previous entry. Let me save you some time and headache. If you follow their advice you are going to go into a store ask them to fix your card and you are going to get a completely blank stare. Bank One handles your late fees, your terms of interest, your balance, your credit line, ect. Circuit City does not have access to anything other then your account number.

It is a credit card just like your Master Card or Amex. We do not enter the no interest in the computer either, it is an automatic thing we only hit y for acceptance or no for non-acceptance. The only thing we can do with your card is use it as an accepted form of payment. You might as well come in and tell us your American Express card has late fees on it that do not belong and you want us to take care of it.

We will have the same limitations either way. If you have a credit card problem call the credit card, that is what they do. It is hard to give proper advice when you do not understand how the system works. Like wise, if you need advice on the best way to hook up HI-Def to you TV don't call the credit card company, come to us.

#2 Consumer Suggestion

Problems like this one is easily solved

AUTHOR: Emerrae - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Thursday, May 12, 2005

F.N.A.N.B Customer service Representatives solve this type of problem everyday. The problem begins at the store and not with the bank. Upon purchase, transactions are keyed into the system which should update as a 12 month no Interest WITHOUT payments, or 12 month no Interest WITH payments.

Usually a customer will just assume that it is a No Interest WITHOUT payments when the store is actually charging 12 month no Interest WITH monthly payments. This is not the customers fault if the associate at the time of sale did not explain this to you. A late charge is added because the customer did not make his or her first payment.

The Customer usually calls into Customer Service asking the late fee to be removed, which I can personally tell you that this RARELY happens unless it is the first late fee or proof of the Store or Bank being at fault. When the Customer wants to pay off the balance instead of going through the hassle of trying to have the late fee removed, the late fee is not added to the total balance due.

You would need to ask for the balance to clear the account. This is why another late fee was added the following month. As crazy as it sounds, the problem that you have is simple to fix if the Customer Service Representative know what they are doing. Once you tell them that you purchased a product with a No Interest for 12 months and explain that you did not know that there was any payments, the representative should go into the system to change status of the purchase and remove the late fee .

The representative might even find that it was the store in fault because it was not intered into the system correctly. They will remove any fees, change the purchase to No Interest WITHOUT payments and bring your account current. If you contact a Representative that seems to put you on hold frequently, hang up and try another Representative.

The best results, go to the store where you purchased your item and have the store manager make the correction. He or she will then call into Customer Service and ask the Representative to remove the late fee and change the purchase agreement in the system. Good Luck..

Bank One... charges can be reversed

AUTHOR: Nicole - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Friday, October 01, 2004

FNANB was actually bought out by Bank One in April of this year, so contact would need to be made with them.

As far as the charge is concerned, if you are a card holder in good standing, i.e. this is your first late payment, or there was a billing issue, they will in most cases go ahead and reverse the charge as a customer service to you. I would reccomend going into the store of purchase and have them call the bank for you. They will plead your case and get the fee reversed for you. It will take less than 3 minutes. I have had a lot of luck getting fees reversed. Nearly 100% of the complaints I call in are handled. :) Good luck!
