I am writing to tell you about the horrible experience I had with my Groupon to Foam Factory. Classic bait and switch. when I dropped of my first car, they called me about 30 min. later and tried to sell me all of these add on's that I never asked for and when I went to pick up my car they added 15% gratuity to my bill and told me that Groupon had no say over them charging gratuity and that I had to pay or they would not give me my keys back.

Dennis the owner told me it was in the Groupon add that I had to pay the 15% gratuity but I reviewed the copy and there is nothing stating that I MUST pay 15% they basically tried top fleece me for another $50.00 in gratuity between the two cars I own. To top it off they left my car out in the rain when I went to pick it up instead of in their garage. Basically a total waste of 90 bucks. I love Groupon and have bought a lot of things from you guys; this was a horrible purchase that basically cost me double what I thought I would have to pay. I will never, ever take my cars to this Scam shop again!

I should have looked up the place before purchasing from Groupon as there are a ton of bad reviews for this company and similar shady tactics.

Author is correct

The original author is correct, foam factory has no right to charge mandatory gratuity. I have spoken to living social this evening because I have gone through the same thing today. They also agree with the author of this post. It doesn't matter that he claims its on his sales counter ( which is the company office upstairs) or In his confirmation email. What matters is the fine print on the original deal that you bought and its not on there. Not only is he charging mandatory gratuity but he is charging it on $180.00 not what you bought the deal for. It is completely illegal and I'm sure it will be dealt with. I am reporting this to every agency possible in the next day or so. He actually told me tonight that nobody has ever complained about this before which is obviously a lie. My suggestion to anyone who has had this problem to contact groupon or living social and ask for a refund and then I would call all agency's that regulate small businesses. Its a complete scam.

ok, let’s get a few things straight, gratuity is not mandatory and under Pennsylvania law you have no legal standing to charge an extra fee basically for doing your frickin job. Second, if the job is so spectacular why do have to impose the 15% "company policy based" fee? Seems like your work should speak for itself.

NO where on your website does it say anything about the fee? Maybe because its total BS and only AFTER you have paid for the Groupon or booked an appointment does one find this out. You can blow smoke up your own a*s all day long but its shitty business practices plain and simple.

You guys clearly have no interest in repeat business. good luck churning the Groupon idiots, like myself I guess..

I will stick to the guy down the street who does the same job for a quarter of the price and I don’t have to deal with some euro trash d****e bag trying to screw me on semantics.

Good luck, you won't be around long....

Please be fair in your comments

For full auto detail services, which typically take 4-8 man-hours to complete, it is company policy to include a base gratuity in the check. This is no different from restaurants that include a tip for parties of 6 or more.

This policy is posted on our sales counter. It is also included in every email appointment confirmation.

If you are unsatisfied with the service received, we will never impose a tip and will do everything possible to address your concerns.

In regards to the car being in the rain: Please understand that we have limited space. Once service is complete, we must free-up space for other work. There is no harm done by the rain, as there will be many rainstorms between your detail services. In addition, we offer a rain-guarantee, giving you a free wash if it rains within 24-hours of your detail.
