I am a former employee of Food Lion store#1466 in Fairfax Station Virginia. The store manager Bobby Mears is very corrupt and dishonest. Mr. Mears forcefully made me work off the clock, and as a punishment cut my hours for refussing to do so. After I had to work off the clock, Glenn Peavy, Customer Service Sales Manager, told Mr. Mears I had contacted Human Resources and as a result Mr. Mears had fired me in retaliation. I want everyone to understand and know, especially Food Lion if you are reading this, that Mr. Bobby Mears and Glenn peavy threaten employees if they do not do what they say, i.e. working off the clock, accepting to cut hours, reshopping old food, etc.

Mr. Mears and Mr. Peavy also share no interest in employee comments or suggestions, on certain occasisons they will often refuse employees request for water, food that is given out as samples for BOTH customers and employees, and requests to use facilities such as the bathroom. Mr. Mears deserves to be termintated from the company and so does Mr. peavy. Mr. Mears also restocks old food found under shelves that have passed expiration date, will pass them off as new to customers. Mr. mears also threatens employees who try and complain to higher authorities.

Unemployment Benefits Cut From Food Lion

AUTHOR: Alex - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Saturday, February 04, 2006

***UPDATE*** Manger first denied any participation in cutting my unemployment. 1/30/2006 interviewed by the employment commission, stated they needed to call the employer who brought the matter to their attention, claims double scanning of coupons is misconduct. Who else answers the phone? None other than the employer himself Bobby Mears who willingly changes his story of how I was fired. Now states I was discharged for theft and dishonesty, for double scanning a coupon? Rather for being bullied to sign my own statement of how I double scanned a coupon. Seems Mr. Mears needs to clean up his act a little. Not only pushy and intimidating but a cheap liar who would rather never see me employed again. My advice avoid Food Lion at all costs, they are non-unionized for a reason.

Food Lion

AUTHOR: John - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Wednesday, January 25, 2006

ABC News Magazine "Prime Time Live" broadcast one of its high profile investigative reports. The story accused Food Lion, an 1100-store grocery chain, of selling old food, cheese gnawed by rats, and spoiled meat washed in bleach to kill the odor. ABC used some controversial techniques to learn about Food Lion. Two producers worked undercover in two North Carolina supermarkets, lying on their resumes to get the jobs. They each wore a wig hiding a tiny lipstick-sized camera, and each carried a concealed microphone.

Food Lion did not deny the undercover report's allegations. They did whereever sue for fraud to be recompenced for the wages and time spent training the reporters. Food Lion additionally sued for fraud asking millions in punitive damages.

Important to note that they did not deny the report. Sounds like another one needs to be done.
