This is a huge RIPOFF. On July 7,2009, My wive and I and two children walk into this Foto-Outlet store looking to buy a Wide-Angle-Lens for my D700. The storekeeper introduced me a 28-300mm Sigma lens, he said this lens cost about $2,000 and I don't want to buy it wich I already have 24-120 Nikkor lens in my D700 Then he explain to me if I buy this 28-300mm Sigma lens I don't need anymore the 24-120 Nikkor lens .
Unfortunately, my wive and I don't know much about camera lenses, so when the storekeeper said he going to drop his lens price down to $1,500 I think it is good $5oo drop so I offer to trade in with my 24-120mm nikkor lens the storekeeper agrees to pay $500 for my lens , then I only owe the store $1'000 I deside to pay him thru my debitcard. This is because my wive and I don't know about the lenses and its prices and we thought the storekeeper is honest and tell us the truth and my wive and I later found out this 28-300 Sigma lens only cost about $300

#2 Consumer Suggestion
Bottom Line - You don't know the list price of the lens

Your story is typical of people who -on the spur of the moment - make a major purchase. You admit that you didn't know the cost of the lens. It wouldn't have taken long to drive back to your hotel or any nearby hotel (I assume you were on vacation) and looked on Amazon or elsewhere on the Web to find out what the lens cost. Virtually all chain hotels and motels have a computer in the lobby that people use for airline boarding passes etc. Good luck returning it.

I'd say that's a pretty high price since it seems to be one of the standard lenses.
For instance, this sigma f3.5-6.3 28-30mm is listed at $440 on sigma's website: http://www.sigmaphoto.com/lenses/lenses_all_details.asp?id=3305&navigator=2
I don't suppose there's any chance you've tried to return it?
