This company advertised on Careerbuilder for Junior Marketing Executives.  They found me because I have marketing and grant writing experience.  They claim to be a growing company hiring in the advertising, marketing, sales, etc. categories.  I drove 40 miles to the location and met with the hiring manager named Ian.  I was told to be professionally dressed and bring a resume.

When I got there it turns out all they want are people to pitch and sell Victoria Jackson cosmetics.  These people know clear well that they are only wanting people they can pay minimum wage to pitch low grade cosmetics to consumers.  This is no better than a telemarketer position though they claim you don't have to cold call.

During the interview Ian wasn't interested in my knowledge or experience.  He even pointed out that a high school student could do the job.  Why then waste people's precious time and gas on this?  They clearly know they are reaching above their heads when they target people who have professional experience.  It should be a crime to play with people like that.

I should also point out that you are required to dress in professional attire.  Ian was dressed in a cheap pair of pants and a shirt with no jacket.  The office is nice but they only rent out a couple of rooms in a suite of offices that house everything from attorneys to other small businesses to make themselves look bigger than what they are.

Don't be fooled or waste your time or gas unless you want to do work like this.  When you go on interviews make sure you check with them first and get the real story because they are phony.
I have decided that I will do my part to help others like me even if I don't get paid for it.

Foundation Marketing now Keystone

AUTHOR: Jacque - (USA)

POSTED: Wednesday, October 10, 2012

Smart Circle and Ian Laird now changed the name of Foundation Marketing to Keystone, probably to hide from all the bad publicity online. When I worked here Ian Laird (the San Diego manager) and Sandy El-Reyes (former San Diego assistant manager, and now the manager of the Encino office - Diamond, Inc.) encourages the sales staff to break the law by going into large businesses and soliciting in the aisles. The also violated labor laws, wage violations, and there was even drug use in the office. And forget about trying to tell management because they fire the ethical people who being stuff to management's attention.
