My son (Brent gibney) was found dead in his cell in the franklin county jail in Columbus Ohio on October 2 2017 We as the parents and next of kin were not notified or contacted with the death and we learned of his passing from another inmate. The jail refuses to give us any explanation or information that caused his death. They have totally disregarded us and have no answers to offer for this tragedy After doing our own research we discovered this in not a isolated even and inmates suffer continually by lack of emergency medical intervention.

Inmates complain of severe medical conditions and are being neglected by lack of concern or total disregard of heath or wellbeing. Many die in their cell from issues that could have been prevented had they received fast immeadiate medical assistance. We were told by fellow inmates that Brent layer there "a long time" before the jail responded and called EMT paramedics and died waiting on them to arrive. This is a horrible injustice and violates the 8th ammendment of of constitution of cruel and unusual punishment.

The inmates also have insufficient surveillance equipment to visually monitor the activities inside the cells. This is crucial to determine a assault by another inmate or staff and leaves too much room for speculation as to exactly what occurs in the cells and or dorms. Inmates are being deprived safety and security by not being monitored by cameras and surveillance. The jail also makes up commissary by at 100% or more on necessary food and hygiene products. They are "fleecing inmates for profit" and making it difficult to obtain these items at a fair and decent price.

The whole jail system at the franklin county jail Columbus Ohio is a scam and deceit to all they claim to provide a "safe and secure environment to housed inmates. Google "Ohio inmate abuse" and look at the repeated occurances and neglect reported. Also go to change.org and sign our petition to stop this criminal activity by the franklin county Ohio sheriff department. Help us cease this before more inmates are forced to die, as they did to my son. Change.org and put in the search window: Ohio inmate death. Thanks for your help
