Fras-Air / Service Experts tried THREE TIMES to rip me off

Fras-Air provides service for Carrier air conditioners. The company was called to replace a broken drain pan in my home.

Ripoff attempt #1:  The company's telephone representative gave me an hourly rate and told me that the job would take 5 hours. It actually took 2 hours. However, Fras-Air presented me with a bill for the full 5 hours, an overcharge of 3 hours and hundreds of dollars.

Ripoff attempt #2:  The service people had to come to my home twice. They left almost immediately after their first arrival. They claimed that their replacement drain pan was broken and that they would have to go back and get another one. They tried to charge me for the hours they spent fixing their own error.

Ripoff attempt #3:  When I disagreed with these charges, they sent me a third invoice. This one slightly reduced their overcharges, but still requested hundreds of dollars more than was appropriate. This latest invoice did not have enough detail to tell whether the company (a) illegally overstated the number of hours worked, (b) illegally raised their hourly rate above what was quoted, or (c) illegally raised the cost of the replacement drain pan.

It should also be mentioned that their service people had to do some minor carpentry to get the replacement pan into my attic. The entrance to the attic was left with damaged wood, bent nails sticking out, and area now in need of paint.

In any case, Fras-Air continues its attempts to overcharge me. IMHO, consumers should avoid this company and its criminal business practices.
