Freedom Moving & Storage Moving ripoff Atlanta Georgia

Freedom Moving & Storage (FMS)contracted in Oct 2004 for packing household items, move them to climate controlled storage facility in Atlanta, Ga. Move to be from Alabama to St. Louis area. May 2005 contacted mover to make arrangements to complete movement of all items from storage to Missouri. Late May only 1 small truck arrived with partial shipment. 2-3 weeks later 2nd truck arrived with partial shipment. Many items such furniture missing and damaged on first 2 moves. FMS had stored items in 2 10x20 non-climate controlled facility in Mobile, AL not Atlanta, GA as promised. Contacted attorney and negoiated with FMS to have lock removed from one remaining storage bin. Lock cut and found considerable number of items still in the storage facility.


Also found keys to the outside lock on the floor inside the unit. Photographed cutting of lock, opening and contents found in the unit. July 2005 remaining items delivered to Missouri. Some items photographed in the unit had turned up missing in Missouri. Attorney filed lawsuit in Mobile County District Court in early 2006. FMS failed to respond to atttorney's request for settlement. July 21, 2006, judge issued a direct judgement for damages against FMS for $33,000+. FMS has continued to ignore the court order and will has not accepted certified letters from both attorney and plaintiff containing copies of the court's judgement. I don't think that I'm alone in problems with FMS. Next steps include other legal avenues and filing with various federal agencies.
