Friedrich Mueller has been sending very slick junk mail to my 92 year old World War II veteran father. They offer a very misleading (illegal?) advertizing package claiming the old man can get a luxury trip, $1,000 in cash, $1,000 in groceries and $1,000 in general merchandise. All he has to do is send them $19.90 to claim it.

My father has been ripped off numerous times by this outfit. The old man has borderline dementia and can no longer distinguish between legitimate honest offers and this type of rip-off.

I filed a complaint against them with the Illinois Attorney General's Office (Consumer Protection Division). You may wish to do the same thing by writing to the Attorney General in your state for problems you have with these types of companies.

Add this company to your list of outfits to stay away from.

False Accusation

AUTHOR: Friedrich Mueller - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Wednesday, June 11, 2008

The person complaining from Bossier LA gave completely erroneous information.

The elderly gentleman he complained about to the Attorney General in Illinois - a Mr. Glen Mackey - never ordered anything from our company. He is not a customer of ours.

We have been in business and have been a corporation in good standing for 21 years, and have provided the same toll-free number (1-800-343-7209) during that entire time to serve our customers. We have not stayed in business since 1987 by "ripping off" people, and it is truly sad that baseless accusations can simply find their way on the internet without any documentation or proof whatsoever.

As a matter of reference, any person can easily stop mailing promotions by registering free of charge at www.directmail.com and placing their name on the Do Not Mail List, which is what Gary Mackey should do rather than complain to the Attorney General. Mail order sompanies such as ours pay to use this database every year to remove those who do not wish to be contacted by direct mail, since it is logically not in our interest to mail to those names. In fact, we mail once to potential customers - which are acquired in a completely legally compliant manner - and if they do not respond, no further solicitations are made on our part.

Mr. Mackey should bear in mind that there are many reputable companies such as ours which continue to provide consumers with products and services in a convenient manner (and - unlike many retail outlets - always with a money back guarantee), and if direct mail companies which employ people, pay taxes, and contribute significant revenue to the postal services ceased to exist, you would be paying well over a dollar a letter for postage.

Since there is absolutely no basis to the claims made by this person, the matter has been closed.
