FRITO-LAY, INC, WAS CONTACTED ON 6/11/09 ABOUT INSECTS FOUND AFTER EMPTYING 2 PACKAGES OF THEIR FRITO LAY PRODUCT "LAYS POTATO CHIPS, CLASSIC" INTO A SEALED CONTAINER. WHEN ONE OF THEIR CUSTOMER SERVICE REPS WAS CONRACED ABOUT THIS AT THEIR CONTACT CENTER 1-800-352-4477, THE REP SAID SHE WOULD SEND OUT A BAGGIE. THE REP WAS ADVISED THAT MORE THAN A BAGGIE WOULD BE NEEDED AND ALSO PACKAGING FOR THE CONTAINER AS WELL AS IT WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED. THE RESPONSE RECEIVED FROM THE REP WAS FRITO-LAY OFFERS TO SEND A COUPLE OF COUPONS OUT. THE QUESTIONED WAS RAISED WHAT ABOUT THE CONTAINER? FRITO-LAY RESPONDED AT FIRST "YOU CAN PROBABLY JUST TOSS THE CONTAINER." FRITO-LAY WAS THEN ASKED HOW ARE YOU GOING TO REPLACE THE CONTAINER THAT YOUR UNSANITIZED PRODUCT WAS IN. NO PART OF THIS FAMILY WILL USE IT OR EAT OUT OF IT AGAIN AS WHO KNOWS WHAT THOSE INSECTS CARRIED OR DID NOT CARRY BACTERIALLY. FRITO-LAY, INC. RESPONDED "FIRST WE WILL SEND YOU A PRE-PAID ENVELOPE WHICH WILL HAVE A LARGE BAGGIE IN IT, THEN AFTER WE RECEIVE IT WE WILL INSPECT THE INSECTS THEN DECIDE IF WE WANT TO REPLACE THE ITEM OR NOT? THIS WAS TOTALLY UNACCEPTABLE AND NOW THE CONSUMER HAS TO WAIT AROUND TO EVEN SEE IF FRITO-LAY, INC. WILL EVEN ADDRESS THE REPLACEMENT OF THE CONTAINER MEANWHILE THE CUSTOMER IS OUT OF USE OF THE CONTAINER. ALSO THE CONDESCENDING ATTITUIDEs OF THE REP & SUPERVISOR DID NOT HELP EITHER!

I have to agree with the first poster. You are nuts. If this happened to me, I would throw the chips away, wash the container, and move on with my life. It was two bags of chips that probably didn't cost you more than $5.00.

If there were really bugs, you should have taken the chips straight back to the store with your reciept.

For the container you put the "bug" chips in, wash it.

You are being nuts, if you are pushing for a law suit you need to start at the store you bought the chips from. If it is clean then go to the trucking company that delivered the chips etc.
