NOT ONCE, BUT TWICE NOW, FRYS ELECTRONIC, CITY OF INDUSTRY, cALIFORNIA, SALES PERSON SOLD ME MERCHANDISE THAT EITHER BEEN OPENED, OR REFURBISHED WITH OUT FIRST TELLING ME, OR INDICATING IN PLAIN VIEW, IN WRITING THAT THESE PRODUCTS WAS EITHER OPENED AND RETURNED BY ANOTHER CONSUMER OR REFURBISHED.
BOTH TIMES, THESE PRODUCTS WAS DEFECTED, WHICH MEANT, I WAS FORCED TO DISCONNECT, REPACK, DRIVE FOR TWO HOURS BACK TO FRYS, CITY OF INDUSTRY, STAND IN A LINE ABOUT FIFTEEN PEOPLE DEEP, FILLED WITH OTHER CONSUMERS RETURNING THEIR MERCHANDISE.
THAN FRYS Electronic, CITY OF INDUSTRY, CALIF.
ATTEMPTED TO ATTACH A REPACKING FEE TO ME, FOR RETURNING THERE DEFECTED MERCHANDISE, THAT WAS SOLD TO ME, OPENED AND/OR REFURBISHED, WITH OUT ADVISING ME THAT THIS IS WHAT i WAS PURCHASING. wHEN BROUGHT TO THE MANAGERS ATTENTION, HIS RESPONSE WAS, "THIS WAS COMMON BUSINESS PRACTICE AND NOTHING UNUSAL.
I THINK ITS ILLEGAL TO DISPLAY A MERCHANDISE FOR SALE AT REGULAR PRICE, WHEN THESE PRODUCTS HAVE NOT BEEN MARKED AS PREVIOUSLY OPENED, OR REFURBISHED. IT APPEARS TO BE MISREPRESENTING THE PUBLIC AS TO THE QUALITY OF WHAT THEY ARE PURCHASING.
I PONDER HOW MANY OTHER CONSUMER THAT HAS BEEN TO THE SAME STORE, PURCHASED AN PREVIOUSLY OPENED/REFURBISHED MERCHANDISE, WITH OUT KNOWLEDGE OR NOTIFICATION AND PAID THE REGULAR PRICE. EVEN IF THESE MERCHANDISE IS OPERATIONAL, I THINK IT IS THE ETHICAL/LEGAL RESPONSIBILITY FOR ALL FRYS STORES AND OTHER BUSINESS SERVING THE PUBLIC TO WARN CONSUMERS THE STATUS OF WHAT THEY ARE CONSIDERING TO PURCHASE.
IT IS IRRESPONSIBLE AND DISRESPECTFUL OF CONSUMERS TIME, THAT FRYS ELECTRONICS, CITY OF INDUSTRY CALIF, TO CONDUCT THIS TYPE OF BUSINESS AND FRAUD THE PUBLIC ABOUT WHAT THEY ARE BUYING.... WHAT DO YOU THINK?

#3 Consumer Suggestion
Fry's does NOT have a good price, when you consider what it is you're getting

Wifi card. Doesn't work. $14.99
Computer keyboard. Space bar defective. $8.99
External notebook DVD burner. No cables, power supply, warranty, or instructions. $49.99 after rebate.
Every Sunday, you see the full-page ad for Fry's. You kinda have to know the value of things. Any time you see something selling for 1/3 of the normal price, it's either stolen, a fraud of some kind, or junk.
This is a basic concept for avoiding a ripoff. Always compare the price to similar competing products.
A 5% discount makes sense. But, a 65% discount makes no sense.
No seller could possibly supply a working item at that price and still make enough profit to keep a store open.
Remember, super-low price = junk.
The same thing applies to all your pricelines, your overstocks, and your big lots.
Next time you see the ad, laugh, turn the page, and move on to the funnies.

Fry's Repackages Damaged Items

I have witnessed, on several occasions, Fry's electronics take my defective item being returned, slap a sticker on it saying that it's been tested to "manufacturer standards" and then put it in a bin to be put back on the shelf. While in the return line I have seen items go back without the proper cables and with missing or broken parts. Bottom line, Fry's has a good price, but buy it unopened in the original shrink-wrap.

Been there - another thing bad about fry's in city of industry

I've had a similiar problem and got really annoyed, basically bought a motherboard turned up used and dead, well i returned it and the employee who was issuing me a refund bluntly told me that all open box'd items that fry's sells is Untested and just re-packaged up and put on shelves for any consumer to purchase.
Well i was shocked that she told me this but when i looked back at the return/refund line i wasnt suprised.
Here's another thing bad about fry's in city of industry. The day when i bought my motherboard i asked a employee if they had the product mentioned in the fry's ad and he said and i quote "Hell no"?!? who's hiring these people???well my guess is the owner is corrupt and doesnt really care who gets hurt in the process he just wants the $$$
