7 months ago I drop off my gateway laptop due to a bad hardrive and a spot on lcd. I went to the bc head office over it. I was given the run around. In end they refused to repair the LCD. Sent me back to Surrey Futureshop store. 4 month on I went in to pick up and my laptop. I then Found that they had Damaged the lcd. There was 4 long scratches on the screen. I refuse to take it back. I took the 50 buck gift card that was given to me for waiting 3 months for them to do something about it. Today Jan 10 /08 I finely get JD the store manager on the phone. He admits that futureshop indeed caused the problem but will not replace the laptop. Stating Gee it's beat to crap. It's not worth much.

As it stands they damaged the laptop. They refused to stand by the extended warranty etc. Don't bother with it best buy or futureshop.

3 months? Unfortunate.

AUTHOR: Kd - (Canada)

POSTED: Thursday, April 17, 2008

Unfortunately Futureshop has a 60 day replacement guarantee. If on the 61st day you've still not got your repair completed they will give you a new unit. Therefore I have a difficult time believing that your laptop was being repaired for 90 days... an entire month pas our Product Service Plan guarantee. If you were misinformed I would talk to your local FS manager.

Unfortunately it sounds like there was a miscommunication between you and whoever you spoke to. Because of one experience though its unfair to claim that all should shy away from the plan. Always see the sales person you delt with in the first place. Its usally more likely that things are handled quicker and with more care as you are their client.

Cheers.

FutureShop Product Service Plan Information

AUTHOR: John - (Canada)

POSTED: Saturday, February 09, 2008

One of Future Shop's written criteria about their PSP (product service plan) is that if it takes more than 60 days to repair a product, the customer receives automatically a new product. You can go to any Future Shop and verify through their PSP contract pamphlet.
