This was an transfer from Husband to Wife. There should have been no TAVT due because the TAVT had not been paid previously, yealry AVT was being paid. Instead of defaulting to continuuing to pay the yearly AVT the DMV girl convinced my wife to just go ahead an pay TAVT of 271 dollars. This is a 1500 dollar truck a 98 Chev Suburban worth about 1500 KBB value. If the state of GA is going to start learning from the yankees about gouging tax schemes, at least learn the whole story. NY does not charge tax among family memebers, it also goes by ACTUAL amount paid, not inflated book values. I'll remember this GA, and will be buying very few vehicles in the future. Watch for all the dealers to close down because everyone will be keeping their vehicles longer. Another job lost to a new government program.
