2007 Jeep Compass Falls Apart! Do Not Buy!!
Do Not Buy A Vehicle From Galeana Chrysler Jeep (Ft. Myers, FL)
I recently purchased a brand new 2007 Jeep Compass from Galeana Chrysler Jeep (14375 S Tamiami Trl, Fort Myers, FL 33912 PH: (239) 481-2600) that had about 145 miles on it when I drove it off the lot. In the next 6 days, I put on an additional 300 miles and started to notice large amounts of oil where the car was parked (my in-laws driveway is now stained with oil). Luckily, I had the day off of work and checked the oil left in the engine. To my surprise there was almost no oil left in the engine at all. There was some major manufacturing error in the engine causing this to happen and who knows how many more cars are faulty straight from the plant! If I hadn't checked the oil right then and got the vehicle to the dealer, the engine may have locked up, possibly jeopardizing my 9 months pregnant wife on the dangerous SWFL roads.
After owning the car for 6 days, it has now been in the shop for 12 days and has been deemed unfixable due to a major flaw in the engine. Now, the dealer will not buy-back the lease nor provide me an acceptable deal on a new 2007 Compass to make up for this nonsense we have gone through with Daimler Chrysler (Jeep) and the Galeana Chrysler Jeep Dealership. So, we are now stuck with a lease on an undrivable car that was faulty right off of the lot (lemon). Galeana Chrysler Jeep Dealership and Daimler Chrysler Corp. doesn't care nor are they trying to make the situation better (Galeana now has revoked the car rental they provided us while the car was being serviced leaving us without a vehicle this is 5-Star Customer Service?!?).
DON'T LET THIS HAPPEN TO YOU!!! Stay away from the new 2007 Jeep Compass and Galeana Chrysler Jeep Dealership in Ft. Myers, FL!!
Please feel free to contact me at roth113@hotmail.com if you would like any additional information about the horrendous Jeep Experience! And, please pass on this information to anyone who it might help!

Unfixable? Who said it was "unfixable."

Every engine problem is "fixable." If they have to, they could replace the whole engine with a new one. And they must if it comes to that, because it is under the new-car warranty. You have a case under the "lemon law."

contact the lease holder

I would suggest contacting the finance company who is the lease holder. They may have more luck with the dealer at getting you in another vehicle. If not then i would suggest contacting a lawyer and attorney general. Even with the lemon law they should have given you an indetical Compass and taken care of the paperwork.

What is the exact problem?

There are no recalls, TSB's or other common problems with your vehicle. What is the exact nature of the problem ?

Lemon Law ???

Usually a Lemon Law will specify 3 failed attempts to repair the same problem, but "unrepairable" may superceed that.
Why cannot your dealer simply *replace* your motor with a short block (or long block) obtained from Daimler Chrysler Corp under warranty?
Me? I would not buy a Jeep. Too many problems and too many better alternatives.

Thanks for Sharing... I was about to buy from Galeana

Jeffrey,
Thanks for sharing your story. I am currently looking at buying a new Jeep and had been to Galeana a couple of times and was planning to buy from them. I had been a little hesitant, because when I asked the sales manager about how they handle severe mechanical problems on new cars, he kept referring to the manufacturer warranty. I was looking for more of what the dealership would do. I guess now I know how they handle such issues. I'll probably go to the dealer in Punta Gorda instead. Good luck with your issue, and please post as to how things worked out.
