This company, with various locations in Louisana has a website to order, cakes, pastries, and King Cake. I placed an order on Tuesday for delivery on Friday via FedEx. My wife's birthday was on Saturday.
I received a confirmation via email. On Friday, the day the items were supposed to arrive, FedEx showed up with other packages but not this one. I attempted to resolve and track on the websit but the shipping information was not available even though they had a link to tracking on FedEx. I sent an email per their site with no repsonse.
I contacted three of their stores and no one could look up order or knew anything about the internet site or internet orders. I contacted the corporate office and talked to one lady. She referred me to one of the stores, who again knew nothing and referred me back to the Corporate Offices. I called again, talked with a lady who "seemed" helpful. She could not look up anything but took my number and was to call back. I offered to pay the additional fees for Saturday delivery if the items did not, in fact, go out on Thursday but could be shipped on Friday.
I did not hear anything, so I attempted to call back on at least 10 occassions but could only get a voice mail system that went in a loop.
Today is Saturday, the day of my wife's birthday and I still have not heard anything.
I guarantee that they charged my card because the internet site is by a third party (PayPal, etc.). I look forward to stopping payment with AMEX.
Once the card is charged this goes from simple arrogance to fraud.
I cannot understand how people can setup a website and be so ignorant of basic use of the site or care that they are ripping people off, or at best, providing the absolute worse of cusotmer service. They would be better served to get off the internet.

Webmaster - Gambino's Bakery

Unfortunately you were the victim of a scam that used Gambinos Bakery's name and web site to con people. Gambinos Bakery took steps to correct this problem long time ago and helped the FBI arrest and convict the thieves. Probably you never tried to reach Gambino's Bakery via e-mail as we were at the time taking steps to correct this problem. This happen at the end of 2005, beginning 2006, since then all problems have been corrected and our site has been secured to avoid this situation from ever happening again. Gambino's Bakery does not use and have never used PenPal.

I can see why this happened

I can see why you had a problem. I just noticed you said you paid with Pay Pal. Gambinos does not accept Pay Pal as a form of payment, and hasn't in the last few years that I've ordered from them. What I don't know is who got your payment, I would definately dispute it.

2nd mistake

The Great organization you mention billed me via American Express for the shipment that never arrived.
How can I refuse the shipment or return it if I don't get it.
The have to this day never responded.
Don't tell me about Katrina. I am from the Ms. Gulf Coast, Made it through Camille and my mother lost our home to Katrina.
A rip-off is a rip-off.

I had no problem, but if you ever do...

I had over 20 king cakes shipped from the same bakery, and had no problems with any of them. For a bakery that shipped thousands, and came back from Hurricane Katrina, I think they did a great job! For future reference, if you ever have a problem with any shipment from anyone, send it back right away (send it back as refusing the package and you don't pay for the mailing). You have to send any merchandise back to get a refund.
