As a victim of this site myself my advice is to stay as far away as possible from this site and a dozen others owned and operated by Eric Smith.

I knew I was in trouble as soon as I tried to change the contact info on the account I purchased. The live support link on the website is not in any way live. It links you to an email system. The listed phone number gets you to a voicemail system. I left several messages on each one and nearly 30 days later have yet to hear from Gametag.

After further scrutinizing the site I found that the info I needed in order to change the ownership of the account was an additional $49.99. It's called the Complete Information Package (CIP). Why Gametag didn't reply to any of my messages with that info, and provide the option to purchase it is beyond me. That info of course was part of the account and should have been transferred with it. The very likely result of my not having this info is that Gametag can retrieve my password, hijack the account, and resell it again.

The following website was invaluable. I wish I had found it before I threw my money away.

Not looking for Anything

AUTHOR: Fraudalert - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Sunday, January 03, 2010

I am not interested in obtaining anything from your company at this point, free or otherwise.  As far as I am concerned the matter was forced closed by your company when I received no response to any of my emails or voicemails with my concerns and a desire to rectify the matter nearly a year ago.

Regarding the issue of a lawsuit due to slander... good luck.  Anything I have stated has been factual and in no way slanderous.  However, should you wish to proceed with a lawsuit I expect that my legal backround will come in quite handy.  Do remind your "management" that in a civil suit only a preponderance of the evidence is needed to obtain a responsible finding and my countersuit will provide far more in the way of contributory evidence than that which is needed in order to obtain one as a great deal of data is readily available via the web concerning your company's business dealings.

Happy New Year!

Customer Wants Free Service, Making False Claims

AUTHOR: CSR Agent - (USA)

POSTED: Sunday, January 03, 2010

Reply,

Interesting that I filed my complaint in February 2009 and a supposed company employee is only now responding.

We are not required to answer these reports online. We have gone out of our own free will to reply back to you.

The main issue is that this isn't an actual complaint. We delivered a service, and you want additional information which was clearly noted on the website BEFORE you purchased. Instead of choosing to purchase it, you decided to complain on here.

At this point, your complaint is no more than slander. You haven't given us an order number, email address, or even your name. For all we know, you are competition or a disgruntled former employee who wants to bash us. Prove to us otherwise.

Here's the thing, if I were the only person making this complaint you could chalk it up to a disgruntled customer on a quest to smear a company's good name.  But that is not the case.  The large number of complaints, as well as testimonials by former employees received by the Ripoff Report is undeniable evidence that this company is a total scam and should be avoided like the plague.

Which employees?

What are there names?

All former employees of ours are under full non disclosures so I highly doubt that they ever disclosed information about GameTag. Any listing(s) that say otherwise are more than likely competition trying to bash our website(s).

It doesn't mean in anyway we are a scam, and by replying to your post, does it sound like we are trying to pull a scam, or actually trying to explain our situation, and resolve it?

Further I am highly educated, computer literate, and following being defrauded did a good amount of investigation, including making a phone call to the the previous owner of the domain name "Gametag.com" who told me he sold it to Eric Smith approx. 1 year prior to my making the purchase from the site

Either you are a patsy for him and therefore a willing participant in his schemes, or just a poor sucker who bought the site from him in an effort to go into business for yourself.  If you are the latter, do yourself a favor get yourself a lawyer and file suit to get your money back before your good name becomes inorexably linked to that domain name and Eric Smith.

I won't even answer this nor will I even break down how wrong you are on everything as I am under a non disclosure myself.

What we can do is offer you three options.

Option 1: Receive a FREE CIP Package

How can you receive this?

1). Email our support line with this link, and label the subject: FREE CIP PACKAGE which is set to forward to my company email. Please include your account name, email, and order number. We also need to know "exactly" what you need so we can try to go back and research anything about your account. Please note, that due to the length of time, we may not have these records on file as do not store data. However, we will do our best to gather information for you.

Be patient during this process.

2). I will reply back. While I gather your information, I will request during this time that you disclose all information we need in order to complete this. We will then ask that you prepare to come to a conclusion on this RipOffReport, and agree not to post anything in regards to our site again.

Upon complying to this, we will deliver your CIP Package.

If we fail to complete this, you may post that it was incomplete, but we attempted to resolve the issue with you.

OR

OPTION 2: We can settle this in court

If you'd like to settle this in court, we can kindly refer you to a GameTag Attorney who can represent us in court. After that, you will guide you through the process of setting up a lawsuit, but you will need to pay all fee(s), including your own attorney fee(s). Please email support with the Subject: Request To Speak To A GameTag Attorney, and that will be forwarded over to legal.

If we do not hear back from you on either one of option 1 or 2, I have been told that our management will most likely need to file a civil subpoena, and gather information about you so we can sue for slander, and defaming in superior court.

OR

OPTION 3: You reply back slandering us again, it's going to show that you do not want to resolve this issue and that you are either a former employee, or competition just trying to bash us, and never actually placed an order with us.

At this point, you no intentions to resolve this issue, and simply are slandering us.

We expect a reply via email, and no more posts until we can resolve this issue (we may need sometime). If you don't reply back to us, it's clear that you are the scam yourself.

Customer Did Not Bother To Read Website

AUTHOR: CSR Agent - (USA)

POSTED: Monday, December 28, 2009

INFORMATION ADDRESSED TO CUSTOMER

When placing an order with us, we inform every customer in multiple sections on our website that you are required to purchase the CIP, also known as the Complete Information Pack if you need "all" requested information. The following areas on the website contain information which informs you that you need to purchase this package.

- FAQ
- ABOUT US
- CHECK OUT PAGE
- TERMS AND CONDITIONS

In no way does the CIP Package prevent you from playing the game, but instead it is an added bonus if you want us to dig deep, make calls, and get you all the information you need. We're the only company who goes out of our way to get you the information you need all for an extremely low price of $49.99.

If you had concerns that your account could be at risk, why not pay the additional cost to make sure you secure your account completely? I know I would, and that is why we offer this package. At no point, did we do or say any of the things you say, and we must assume that you just didn't bother reading properly when purchasing a service from us.

We are willing to give you a great deal though by giving you the CIP Package for half price if you still want this. Please place an order with us, and email support letting them know who you are. We will then provide you cash back on your purchase.

Breaking down your message

As a victim of this site myself my advice is to stay as far away as possible from this site and a dozen others owned and operated by Eric Smith.

There is no Eric Smith at this company, nor did he ever own or operate our website.

I knew I was in trouble as soon as I tried to change the contact info on the account I purchased. The live support link on the website is not in any way live. It links you to an email system.

Live support is up randomly. Just wait for someone to reply.

The listed phone number gets you to a voicemail system. I left several messages on each one and nearly 30 days later have yet to hear from Gametag.

We don't offer phone support. You likely called a merchant service phone number which processes payments, but doesn't handle customer support.
