gate1travel Have a Vacation Scheduled? Don't Pack Your Bags. Fort Washington, Pennsylvania

My lifelong dream is to see the world. I enjoy the Ancient Wonders. I find the ancient cultures fascinating. They define in part, the amazing journey to who we have become. I selected Gate1travel as my vacation agent this year. My passport was in order and my destination was Guatemala and Honduras. I was going to see the Myan structures I had only been able to read about all of my life.



The tour agency set up a complete package for me. I had just returned from the doctors office where I payed a healthy fee for the couple of shots I would need to prevent diseases. In a week I would be leaving for a warmer clime. 



The phone recorder indicated a message. I listened. "I am sorry Mr. xxxx, we have had to cancel your trip, call us." Sure that there must be a mistake, I called my representative. "There are not enough rooms available for you and your travel companion-sorry." I asked if we could stay in a neighboring hotel and meet up with the tour group each morning? "Sorry, there is nothing we can do for you." After several queries I finally asked; Could you please give me the name one of your competitors? "Sorry, there is nothing we can do for you." A few more "Sorry, there is nothing we can do for you's," and I conceded defeat.



Having the vacation time already scheduled, I next contacted a representative of Cosmos travel service. Within four hours a had a trip completely planned for us. Incidentally; the agent, (who had nineteen years of travel experience,) had never heard of anything like Gate1's antics. Neither did the dozens of other travel- seasoned folks I mentioned the incident to. 



A few things I noticed about Cosmos was that their prices are comparable to Gate1's and that they have many, many more packages to choose from. Voyages Jules Vernes was another travel group highly recommended by some of the members of our group. I have not tried them yet.
