Gateway and Hurley State Bank ripoff scam!!

When purchasing my Gateway Laptop from a local Gateway store, I was never told ANYTHING about the account even being setup on a Credit Card, much less the 26.99 percent. After my first billing cycle my father and I could not figure out what was going on, however I paid the bills as scheduled. Soon after I recieved a congratulatory letter in the mail on recieving my Gateway Credit Card. I thought, "What is this??" Then it hit me, I was paying off nothing more than a large credit card dept that I knew nothing about!

Later, I recieved a billing statement with a late charge on it when my previous bill had been payed on time. This happened a few more times and I later was told that they were possibley making up the late charges to be able to increase the percentage rate. This I don't know, but I do know that 26.99 is extremly high for a credit card rate from what I've seen in Louisiana. I was told, from a reliable source, that 21 percent was the highest percentage rate he had ever known of on a credit card. When you compare 26.99 percent on a credit card to 33 percent, which is the highest rate allowed on an automobile loan, it just makes no sense!

Enough of the unofficial mess. What is a fact, is that I've owned this computer a year and 2 months and only payed about 175 off of the original balance!!!!

I really hope that some resolution comes of this for me and every other customer that has been mistreated and taken advantage of.
