Several years ago I purchased a gateway computer. I hooked it up and about twenty minutes later, it crashed. I spent the first day trying to fix the problem, but everytime I logged back in, the computer crashed again. I called gateway and asked if I could return it, and I was asked "did you hook it up", and being honest, I said "yes", then I was told "we can't take it back once you hook it up". I was confused, how would I know it wasn't working properly if I hadn't hooked it up? This went on for several months, I even tried to ship it back but it was refused and sent back to me. After a while, gateway customer service sent me to Citibank (in South Dakota) and told me I have to deal with them. I explained the situation again to them and they told me they were just the credit agency and had nothing to do with the condition of the computer, I owed the money, so I have to pay it! That went on again for several months until I tried to get a house. I had gateway on my credit report, I contested it, and it was taken off my credit. I was happy that it was gone, but then I got a letter from Morgan & Pottinger, a local attorney that was sueing me on behalf of Citibank. I couldn't afford an attorney, but I wrote the judge Steven M. Fleece in Clark County Superior Court about what had happened and he still declared that I must pay over $3600 for a $1900 broken computer. You can refer to case no. 10D0********** for more info. The original division of gateway I purchased the computer from, no longer exists, I guess they sold a lot of bad computers to people! I have seen some other complaints about gateway on your site - good for those people! I am starting my own website soon. I will get my revenge, and if you check the BBB on Citibank - they have a bad record too.

Less than a month after I filed this report, my garnishments stopped and I got a check from Citibank for $2,700! What they did was still wrong and the judgement will be on my credit until 2011. I still say Don't buy Gateway!
