Warning to all truck drivers that may be thinking of signing a lease purchase agreement with GDS Express Inc. in Akron Ohio.

First let me state when you arrive at GDS you will find many kind and courteous men, dressed in suits and ties, which gives the impression that this is a very professional company and truly exudes that they are entirely there for the benefit of the truck driver and their equipment. 

The first 3 months with GDS were great, pay was wonderful, attitude was wonderful, they seemed to be there solely for you, the truck driver. 

But all good things usually end with trucking and unfortunately it did.  Not only did the money go away but also the attitude of the company.  It no longer was about you but all about the business and the truck that you were buying. 

As we got further and further behind on our own bills, my wife began to become involved, checking every settlement, questioning where the money was, etc.  She even went up to the company and spoke to the manager of operations for 2 and 1/2 hours.  Detailing our finances that were no longer there and why since October we had not received any settlements via e-mail. GDS EXpress takes 200.00 per week for a maintenance fund that is designated to any and all repairs on truck.  This is your money and comes out weekly from your paycheck.  They also take a 1,500.00 performance bond which also comes out of your pay, to date, I do not know what this performance bond is for since no one will tell me.

Ironically, when we tried to get our maintenance fund money, we were told this is truck money not your money.  Wanted to get 2000.00 out of it to catch up on my own bills since my checks had gone from 1800.00 per week (in the beginning) to 200.00 - 300.00 per week.  Was told that I had to get my truck looked at first by United Truck Repair to see if there was any major repairs, and if it passed they would work on it.  Truck passed DOT inspection and even got it's sticker.  But low and behold, there was 1,422.00 worth of repairs that needed to be done. When looking at repair statement, found there were repairs they say it needed and those same repairs were done previously 2 months back. Interesting!

GDS said they could only give me 500.00 out of my maintenance account, because they were not going to let their maintenance fund go below 500.00. THEIR MAINTENANCE FUND? This was my hard work and 200.00 going per week into the fund.

There is so much more I could write. Getting paid book miles, no actual mileage. Getting charged a 1,000.00 insurance deductable for deer strike, which cost 400.00 to fix.  Lies about the time the money would start rolling back in, you name it, I can verify it.
