False Account created in my name says in letter acct no xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-6855 and billing me $226.87. I never received or possessed  any such card and never made any charges of $226.87. I am a senior citizen and a veteran on a fixed income. These scam artists are targeting Veterans and Senior Citizens. They have committed fraud by sending bad credit reports to credit reporting agencies on me damaging my credit.

I have complained to my State and Federal Representives about these Scam Artists who have commited Fraud and Harassment  and many oher crimes against me as a Military Veteran and Senior Citizen. I also have cancer and heart problems and have been in and out of the hospital frequently and this harassment  and fraud against me does not help my condition!

Thank you in advance for any help you can help we with.

ID Theft

AUTHOR: Robert - (United States)

POSTED: Friday, October 12, 2018

If you have a credit card you didn't open, that sounds more like ID Theft than some targeted fraud by the Credit Card company against Veterans.

While I am sure your State and Federal representatives may try and help, they are really not the ones you need to be talking to.  So if you haven't done so already..

Contact the actual Credit Card company and report that you have a Fraudlent Account opened in your Name. Depending on the circumstances and the company they may decide to remove the debt and just close the card. This would be the best case scenario for you, but is also probably a long shot without a bit of a fight. So perhaps you can get a friend or relative to help you deal with this.

Check all of your credit reports to verify if any other fradulent accounts have been opened. Formally dispute any account that is not legitimate.

Put a "Fraud Alert" on your credit report that requires extra steps for verification before they will open another account.

Contact your local Law Enforcement agency and file an ID Theft Report, any company that you have a fraudlent account may want a copy of that report.
