We used this company for an at home paternity test which cost us about $280 dollars to see if my fiances'children belong to him. We got the results back and they both came back as not being his. So we contacted the company to our disbelief and the supposed scientist by the name of Dr. Robert Archer told my fiance' that he was shocked at the results too because they both came back as not being his. Then he proceeded to tell him that he has had 2 or 3 errors in about 40,000 tests. We were also told that they only tested my fiances' DNA once for both children.

If they had done the test on both test strips instead of just using the same results from the first child then that would have thrown up a red flag and let them know something was wrong. Being that we could not believe it we decided to call the company back and retake his portion of the DNA to see what happened. I sent off for the test and we got it he swabbed himself and sent the test back in the following day.

Normally you get the results in 3-5 days well it took about 2 weeks this time. After calling them everyday for the results then finally they emailed them to us. Well this time they are totally different they both come back as his. We called the company and emailed them to see if we could just be reimbursed for the 2nd test and they had the audacity to tell us no and that we could have swabbed anyone... the point of the whole matter is why would you pay money out of your pocket to get false results that you can't use in court anyway. Not to mention all the stress that we were put through due to them not knowing what the heck they are doing. This is a copy of the response we got from Dr. Archer.

OUR QUESTION:
Dear Mr. Archer,

According to the test results that I received today ;they now show that I am the father of both children. This goes to show that this was a mistake on your company's behalf and I do expect a refund of the $85 that I had to pay to retest. If both samples that I submitted on the first test were actually tested that would have thrown up a red flag. But as per our conversation, only one was tested and the results used for both children. I do appreciate your cooperation in this matter. Please reply with your intentions.

Thank you,

His RESPONSE:
First of all it is Doctor Archer. Since this was a personal test, I can not prove and you can not prove who I tested. If we made a mistake on a LEGAL test then I can go back and look at the chain of custody that is associated with the DNA samples submitted and re-analyze them, since the sample was submitted anonymously as a personal DNA test I absolutely can not prove the validity of the samples you submitted.

I really can't believe people do business like this but if you are looking to do a home paternity test I would not recommend going with this company!!

Avoid Genetic Identity

AUTHOR: Mark - (United Kingdom)

POSTED: Tuesday, September 30, 2008

When I first contacted Archer he was helpful. Once he had my money things changed. The test kit took weeks to arrive. I sent it back to the company. The results then took several weeks. Archer then refused to interpret the results. I contacted the BBB. They didn't want to know. Archer misled them - they fell for it. I believe he is an educated man. But he has difficulty explaining simple ideas. Genetic Identity are a company best avoided. The stress they cause is enormous. Go to a different company.

definitely they are rip offs will offer no apologies

AUTHOR: Annabelle - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Wednesday, November 10, 2004

I have been witness to Dr Archer being sloppy with something so important. He will offer no apologies and it'll take a report to the BBB to take your case further as it was with myself when he took to hanging the phone up on me after a week of calling him to correct my report as he had promised.

Perhaps later on I'll post the letters exchanged through the BBB. The Dr even stoops low enough to even lie.

To make a long story short for now, my test came back as expected, yes he's the father but up on top it labeled the father as caucasian. I explained to the doctor that I needed to show it to someone and that the error would raise validity. He promised he would e mail me a correct copy and I never got it. He claimed he mailed it and I never got it. I told him I don't have any mail problems and didn't understand why I hadn't gotten it but that it would be solved if he would just email it. The doctor had the audacity to ask me "what is the big deal any way". If in fact it was an entry error I told him that I needed it corrected because that is what I paid for and not shoddy, sloppy work. Then he got his secretary, who is also his wife to explain how the test works and try to help me understand that the error had no effect on the results. I said okay but I need my corrected paper. She said fine. Well that's the last time they took my calls after that they would hang up on me. So I called one more time and quickly said, "I have one thing to say...Better Business Bureau"

I started to think if they mishandled failed to correct the easy part which is the information that I clearly filled out on the forms, then what else did go wrong.

I quickly went to the appropriate BBB and found out that Paternity Experts was no where on file but aka Genetic Identity was. So I filed under Genetic Identity. Then that too turned into a runaround with my file not being found. Well guess why? Mr Archer upon hearing my threat, quickly filed with the BBB under paternity experts simultaneously as I was putting in the report. So now both of his companies, where under the BBB.

He had explained to me once that both companies are one and that the same equipment is used for both the expensive test and the inexpensive test. He said that the only difference is that one holds under court and the other doesn't, but that both were the same exact quality.

Well a few months later after my complaint with the BBB, I finally got the corrected copy. And when the BBB asked me are you satisfied, I said no because Dr Archer behaved innapropriately and has poor customer service skills and that means he probably has much to hide and doesnt care, so I'll always have doubts that he gave me a good quality test .......I don't know that all the information, percentages and numbers on it are accurate, and have paid him for nothing less than that.

It was his behavior that made me doubt him and the only thing that would make me feel 100% satisfied is getting it done somewhere else to confirm that his is correct to the maximum.

Now you would think that the BBB would report my experience as I felt "not satisfied" for others to beware but if you go in there and look it up their record is clean. So guess what, the BBB is in cahoots with them too. I requested to speak to a supervisor and they refused to get me one, telling me to report it to some government agency or other. But hey, that is why Mr Archer (he hated when I called him that too), hurried up and filed his aka paternity experts, because he knows as long as he pays membership to the BBB, they pretty much work for him and not us. Don't believe the BBB for reliability of a company it takes a company to be as you can imagine hand cuffed & with massive violations before the BBB will reveal it to the public.

So remember, Mr Archer has all the time in the world for you to explain and convince you to do business with him but after he has your money, Mr Archer does a Jekyll & Hyde. He gets rude, condescending and hangs up on the clients right to request what they paid for.

Dr. Archer is a fraud as far as I am concerned

AUTHOR: Kim - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Wednesday, September 22, 2004

We went with this company because DNA testing is realy expensive. When we called Dr. Archer about the report he never offered to retest unless we sent more money, which we did because we wanted the truth. He doesn't understand that when he does not test correctly that can put much HURT into a families life!! Our results weren't the same on the second test so we should not have been charged a second fee.

My fiance' didn't have doubts about the children he was going through a divorce that was why we had them tested.

Dr. Archer is a fraud as far as I am concerned, and if you want your test done correctly I would advise going to a REAL Dna testing facility or using a web based company that provides a MONEY BACK GUARANTEE. Not this company that is only out to take money from people!!!

Home paternity test

AUTHOR: Isabella - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Tuesday, September 21, 2004

I am so sorry to hear what you went through, my brother was tested two weeks ago and the results came out that he is not the biologic father, we tried to ask Dr. Archer, but he stand 100% what the result came out, he was willing to retest but if the results are the same he will charge the fee once again. It can of very scary that the results are not 100%. How did you discover in your case that it was wrong? It seems like you had doubts about being the biologic father. It will be nice if you can share it.
